No return to old normal, says UN health chief, as COVID-19 cases cross 15 million

NewDelhi, July 25, 2020:

The global tally of COVID-19 cases has crossed the 15 million mark, with around 620,000 deaths. The World Health Organization (WHO) has urged people across the globe to help prevent further spread of the disease. The agency cautioned that there will be no return to ‘the old normal’.

Around 10 million of the cases have been recorded in just 10 countries; the United States, Brazil and India accounting for nearly half of them. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that the decisions about where people go, what they do, and who they meet, should be considered as life-and-death decisions… (UN, July 23, 2020)
