Chandigarh, November 23, 2020:
As part of the Round Table India ( RTI) & Ladies Circle India ( LCI) week celebration, All the Round Table & Ladies Circle India Chapters in Area 6 (Bangalore, Vellore, Tumkur & Hosur) today held its 40th Annual Limb Donation at Mahaveer Jain Hospital, Bengaluru and donated 200 limbs to as many beneficiaries in need to lead a normal life. The total cost of the project is over 3 Lakhs. The limbs were handed over to the hospital by Tr. Angadd Km, RTI Area 6 Chairman, and Cr. Ramona Crasta, LCI Area 6 Chairperson.

The annual project, a donation drive which aids to provide good options for limb transplant to the needy, had modest beginnings with the first donation of a single prosthetic limb in 1980. Over the last 40 years, close to 10,000 limbs at a total cost of over 1 crore have been donated as a result of this initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Tr. Shravan NS, Chairman, Bangalore Round Table 7, said, “When we set out on this journey 40 years ago, the goal was simple – helping people in need to walk. Our efforts have resulted in over 10,000 people being able to walk and this achievement gives us immense pleasure. This year as well, as the world fell into turmoil, humanity prevailed with the raising of funds to donate 200 limbs and help better the lives of those who seek support. “

Cr. Ankita Rajput, Chairperson, Bangalore Ladies circle 19 expressed, “The burden of not being able to walk is an issue many people face every day of their lives and it impacts every facet of their lives. This year’s donation drive has raised Rs. 3,00,000 and is a testament to people’s desire to help those in need. None of this would have been possible without the help and support of 41ers Club, Tangent 10, and Area 6 tables and circles.”

“We are committed to building on the continued yearly initiative of Round Table India and Ladies Circle India in the area of limb donation, and we want to ensure that RTI & LCI rank among the most successful organisation in terms of the number of limbs donated, the number of  people who gets impacted by these generous donations and the subsequent quality of life of limb recipients”, said Angadd KM, Area 6 Chariman of Round Table India.
