With the objectives of cascading awareness and disseminating knowledge about the safety and efficacy of COVID–19 vaccine, ASSOCHAM is organizing a webinar on Illness to Wellness: “Vocal For COVID Vaccination: Experiences of Medical Experts” scheduled on Friday, 12th March 2021 from 11.00 AM to 12.30 PM.

Illness to Wellness is an innovative way and comprehensive approach to cascade awareness about wellness campaign, to address preventive healthcare management and to promote health, hygiene, and well-being of people. Under Illness to Wellness campaign, ASSOCHAM has recently organized series of webinars wherein renowned experts from various fields shared their respective views/expertise on various issues including health, hygiene, and well-being of people.

India, with the second largest population and one of the biggest pharmaceutical manufacturing capacities in the world, has been playing a central role in the COVID–19 vaccination efforts.

The medical experts reiterated and categorically mentioned that, as per the guidelines, the patients of hypertension, diabetes, heart ailments and other comorbidities are the first ones to be vaccinated on a priority basis.  It further stated that healthcare professionals, paramedical staff, frontline workers, and other high-risk groups are on the priority agenda in the vaccination drive.  For administering COVID – 19 vaccine, Government has a clear mandate to work with selected priority groups based on risk factors. The very first group will include healthcare and frontline workers. Effective March 1, 2021, the priority group includes citizens over the age of 45 years with specified comorbidities.

As India gears up for the world’s largest vaccination program, it is the most appropriate time to address the apprehensions regarding the COVID–19 vaccine’s efficacy, safety, effectiveness, and availability, etc.
