Kejriwal-led government stations officers in oxygen filling plants to examine procurement and distribution process of medical oxygen

Under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi government has taken some monumental steps in terms of drug management for covid-19 in face of the pandemic. The government has released a list of 29 Remdesivir distributors who will be monitored by Drug Inspectors, and 9 officers have been deputed in oxygen filling plants to examine procurement and distribution process of medical oxygen.

In face of increased demand of several drugs and injections, including Remdesivir, Tocilizumab injection, and Favipiravir tablets, CM Shri Kejriwal instructed to setup drug control rooms for maximum number of districts, whose helplines have been released. Each officer in oxygen plants has been directed to submit a report on daily basis to the Officer on Special Duty.

Firstly, a list of 28 Remdesivir distributors and stockists has been released. These distributors will be monitored and overseen by drug inspectors who will be overseeing the procurement process, ensure that all supplies received by the dealers are entered in the records and inventories are updated regularly.

They will maintain that Remdesivir formulations must be properly maintained and retained as prescribed under Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. The inspectors will be daily report on sale and distribution of Remdesivir injection.

Secondly, 9 officers for Oxygen filling plants, medical oxygen cylinders, and Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) suppliers have been deputed. The officers shall oversee procurement process pf medical oxygen by filler agency, amd ensure that quantity of oxygen received is entered and registered properly. Each officer is required to submit a daily report on this purpose to the Officer on Special Duty.

Thirdly, all the drug inspectors have also been directed to monitor the sale/stock position of Tocilizumab injection, Favipiravir tablets, and other drugs used for covid management from the distributors already assigned to them ok a daily basis.

Lastly, the in face of the acute shortage of covid management drugs due to sudden rise in covid cases, control rooms have been setup to facilitate general public by the Drugs Control Department of Govt of NCT of Delhi.
