New Delhi, June 21, 2021 :

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) celebrated International Yoga Day on the 21st of June 2021 with full fervor. The day was celebrated with launching of NIOS Diploma course in Yogic Science by Sanjay Dhotre, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. The Hon’ble minister released the self-instructional material of the course and in his speech congratulated NIOS for offering such vocational courses to the learners.

Yoga has gained lot of significance especially during the covid – 19 era and has resulted in employment opportunities. Such courses will help the pass out of the course as job provider and not as job seeker. The hon’ble minister reiterated the laudable effort of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi in declaring June 21st as the International Yoga Day. The Chairperson of NIOS in her speech informed that the two-year Diploma programme has first five subjects in the first year in which Yoga Teaching Training will be taught and in the second year five subjects related to Yoga Therapy will be taught.

Under the able guidance of Hon’ble Chairperson, Prof Saroj Sharma, NIOS also organised an international webinar on Yoga in collaboration with Singapore and New Zealand. His Excellency Muktesh Pardeshi, High Commissioner of India in New Zealand was the Chief Guest. This was joined by participants from more than 40 countries. The programme was live streamed on the NIOS You tube channel.about 200 participants across the world have joined this programme virtually.
