“A 115 feet high tricolor was installed by the Delhi Government in the Patparganj Assembly on the 75th anniversary of independence.”

New Delhi, August 15, 2021:

The flag hoisting ceremony was inaugurated by the doctors who saved the lives of people by risking themselves during the second wave of COVID. On this occasion, the MLA of Patparganj and Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia honoured about 350 people including doctors, medical staff, NGO workers, and teachers who worked relentlessly to help people during COVID-19.

While wishing everyone on the 75th anniversary of independence, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “We are living in a free environment because our brave martyrs had given up their lives for our freedom. Our freedom fighters gave us freedom, but on the 75th year of independence, it is the responsibility of all of us to realise the dream of a developed India, to make this dream possible and work hard to achieve it by the 100th year of independence.”

Sisodia said, “Delhi Government is celebrating this entire year as ‘Deshbhakti Year’. On this occasion, 500 tall tricolors will be raised all over Delhi. 5 tricolors have been installed in Delhi and by January 26, 500 tricolors will be installed so that when the people of Delhi come out of their homes, their mind gets filled with the feeling of patriotism seeing the high tricolour. Delhi will be the first city in India where such a large number of tricolors will be installed. While we are filled with pride and patriotism seeing the tricolor, in the real sense, patriotism is when we work for the progress of our society.”

Sisodia, “As our soldiers protect the people of the nation by standing on the border, our doctors and medical staff have continued to save lives of lakhs of people in Delhi and the country. Therefore, on the 75th year of Independence, the flag hoisting has been done by the doctors.”

Sisodia further said, “On the 75th year of Independence, we need to have two dreams that can be fulfilled by the 100th year of Independence. Firstly, when we were in school, we were taught that there are 3 types of countries in the world – Developed countries, developing countries and underdeveloped countries and India is a developing country. Even today, it is being taught in schools that India is a developing country.

We should start making India a developed country by providing good facilities to citizens through good education. Secondly, a common Indian family, today, dreams of sending their children to any university in America, the UK, or Japan for higher education. We have to be unrelenting in our efforts towards education so that in the near future, people in the UK, the US, and Japan dream of sending their children to a university in Delhi for education.”
