Ayurveda and Yoga are such disciplines that teach you to live in a healthy manner

To spread awareness, Health minister Shri Satyendar Jain kicked off the “AYURWALK” organised by the Department of Ayush on the occasion of the upcoming 6th Ayurvedic Day 2021 to promote physical activity and walking. Shri Satyendar Jain inaugurated the walk to spread awareness about physical activity and walking among people and encouraged the people to live a stress-free lifestyle, to prevent any kind of physical disorder arising out from living a sedentary lifestyle. The Health Minister stressed on the fact that Ayurveda, which is called the science of life, plays an important role in maintaining our physical well-being and disease resistance. Ayurveda and Yoga are such disciplines, which teach you to live in a healthy and in a right way. The walk started from Central Park, Connaught Place and ended at Ayurvedic & Unani Tibbia College, Karol Bagh. Medicinal plants were distributed to the participants and their various benefits were discussed.

At the event, Shri Satyendar Jain encouraged all the participants to live a healthy lifestyle by doing as much physical activity as they can so that they can prevent themselves from getting any physical disorder arising out of living a sedentary lifestyle. Shri Satyendar Jain further discussed the healthy lifestyle that Ayurveda promotes for the masses and how one should choose Ayurveda for their growth and development with all the students and public who participated in the walk. The Health Minister further congratulated the Directorate of Ayush for their contribution to the Healthcare system through Ayurveda and applauded A&U Tibbia College & Hospital for their valuable contribution during the first wave of Covid-19 and awaiting more contribution in the future.

Many other eminent personalities were also involved in this event, MLA from Delhi Cantt Sh. Virendar Singh Kadiyan and and Sh. Vishesh Ravi also took an active part in the “AYURWALK” organized by the Directorate of AYUSH. Dr. Raj k Manchanda, Director (AYUSH) was also involved and enlightened the people by interacting with them and giving information on the significance of celebrating Ayurveda Day and its objectives.

Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain congratulated all the students, public guests on this occasion. The Health Minister further added that “In the Puranas, it is believed that when the churning of the ocean took place, 14 gems came out in it, one of those gems was Lord Dhanvantari and in his hands was an urn of nectar. By drinking this nectar, the gods became immortal and after that, they defeated the demons. In this, demons are symbols of diseases and nectar is the symbol of miraculous divine medicines. Lord Dhanvantari blesses everyone with health and long life on this day. He further said that “Ayurveda which is called the science of life, plays an important role in maintaining our physical well-being and disease resistance.

Ayurveda and Yoga are such a discipline, which teaches you to live in a healthy and in a right way. By stressing on the fact that more and more people are becoming falling in the hands of living an unhealthy lifestyle he encouraged all the students and public to practice living a healthy lifestyle by doing as much physical activity as they can by going on a daily walk to maintain a good physical and mental well being and also encouraged the masses to eat healthy food as much as they can to maintain their body and be physically fit at all times.”

Shri Satyendar Jain further added, “This time the theme of Ayurveda Day has been kept as Nutrition and Ayurveda. A lot of detail has been given on nutrition. Not only told about the food items, but also the methods of cooking them from the nutritional point of view. According to the nature of each person, what food will be beneficial for them has also been clarified. The timing of meals and the rules for consuming food were also included. The purpose of Ayurveda is to take care of the physical and mental well-being of a healthy person and to treat the disease of the patient.”

He further said “in today’s comfortable lifestyle where all the work is done by robots and artificial intelligence, we do not do any kind of physical exercise. This Ayurwalk event is a reminder that we should walk every day”.

Shri Satyendar Jain congratulated the Directorate of Ayush and Tibbia college on organizing the “AYURWALK”. He further added that “I am very happy that this year these organizations have completed their hundred years and this is a big achievement in itself”.

Shri Satyendar Jain further discussed the benefits of walking and doing physical activity to maintain a healthy lifestyle. He further said, “ according to Ayurveda there are many benefits of walking. In Ayurveda, the right way to initiate physical activities or go for a walk has been told. After lunch, it is told to walk “SHATPADI” i.e. a hundred steps. Similarly, Diabetic patients have been asked to walk more and more to maintain a healthy lifestyle”.

The students and the public were provided with medicinal plants at the end of the event and their benefits were discussed with them. Shri Satyendar Jain encouraged the people to maintain a habit to go for a daily walk. He further added, “I request everyone to walk 2-3 km every day and make it a part of your lifestyle to stay healthy. This will not only help in staying healthy but also in keeping the environment clean. I request all the people present here to plant medicinal plants in their homes and stay healthy”.
