The 3rd Sustainable Environment and Energy Summit – 2021 was successfully organized by the Social Responsibility Council (SRC)  at Le Méridien, Janpath, New Delhi. Arun Khurana, Founder & Director, SRC welcomed the eminent dignitaries by presenting mementos and had his dignified presence throughout the program.

The inauguration of the 3 rd Environment Summit – 2021 was auspiciously done by the Chief Guest Mr. Mama Natung, Hon’ble Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Government of Arunachal Pradesh in the presence of Guest of Honours’, Panellists, dignitaries and key note speakers. While during their discussions, burning issues related to environment, forest, climate and energy were recognized as one of the worldwide challenges. Appreciating the efforts and work put in by SRC in the field of sustainable environment and energy conservation, Mama Natung also mentioned the commitment of Arunachal Pradesh in the same direction along with the call of the Central Government.

While in his address, he highlighted that Arunachal Pradesh has topped in India for producing maximum amount of oxygen and providing it to the whole world due to the presence of dense forests.

In the halfway of program, a virtual message was shared by Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Hon’ble Minister of State, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Environment, Forest and Climate congratulating the relevant works accomplished by SRC in the field of environment sustainability and offered best wishes for its continuation in future.

In the address of the Hon’ble Justice Swatanter Kumar, former Chairman, National Green Tribunal, emphasis was given on being careful while working with the environment and natural resources for sustainable development. Concerns were expressed over the exploitation of natural resources & the threats posed by them. Also, some suggestive measures to deal with them were outlined.

Dignitary guest, Vinay Kumar Saxena, Hon’ble Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission in his address referred to Mahatma Gandhi’s idea of rural empowerment – ‘Rural development is the real sustainable development’. More force was led on the importance of Khadi – being the only cloth in the textile industry, which requires three litres of water to manufacture one meter. Along with, effective solution against the excessive use of plastic and its harmful effects on the environment was maximum use of earthenware. Importance of ‘Project Gold’ was also included in his address.

During the same occasion, excellent works accomplished by Social Responsibility Council in the interest of environment were admired by the dignitary Mr. Satish Upadhyay, Hon’ble Vice President, New Delhi Municipal Council.

The achievements of SRC were also illuminated virtually by Hon’ble Mr. Judge, Sheo Kumar Singh, Judicial Member, National Green Tribunal. Focus was also strived by him on taking concrete steps to deal with the emerging problems by air pollution, scarcity of water, land and groundwater.

Dr. Suvrokamal Dutta, Renowned Right-Wing Media Think Tank, in his address emphasized on the need of bringing energy together and synchronize it with initiatives like Sustainable Environment and Energy (SEE) Summit and transform India into the mother of all civilizations in the 21st century.

The panel sessions & panellists were welcomed and introduced by Dr. Rawail Singh, Member University Court and Member of Standing Committee of Delhi University and thought-provoking sessions were carried upon.

After the inaugural session, the first session was organized under the chairmanship of Vivek Narayan Sharma, Advocate of the Supreme Court, while Padma shri Swami Prem Parivartan, environmentalist, popularly known as Peepal Baba; Smt. Sanjeeda Khurana, Advocate, Supreme Court; Mr. Tanmoy Chakrabarty, Group Government Affairs Officer, Tata Sons and Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, Social Activist were joined in as panellists.

The second session was presided over by Dr. Anil Kumar, former Director (Environment), Government of NCT Delhi, with panellists like Mr. Praveen Garg, IAS, former Special Secretary and Financial Adviser, Ministry of Environment, Government of India; S. Rajesh IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests (Environment and Climate Change), Government of Arunachal Pradesh; Padma  Peepal Baba (Swami Prem Parivartan), environmentalist and all expressed their views highlighting the joint efforts towards the green energy and environmental sustainability. And while Mr. Gaurav Chopra, Director, GEPD, India; Mr. Aashish Beergi, Founder and CEO, Mash Foundation; Harshad Gupta, Founder Eco Chirp Sustainability School were also present to share their impactful suggestions.

In these brainstorming sessions, all the members of the discussion panel presented their point of view with arguments on the challenges and solutions related to E-waste management, water harvesting, environment and energy conservation.

The Environmental Security Force (ESF) was also launched during the same occasion. All ESF related information was shared through presentation of a film and PPT and its objectives were also highlighted. ESF’s Brand Ambassador Mrs. Prachi Tehlan, Netball and Basketball player and actress shared her experiences and collaboration with ESF.

The closing ceremony was concluded by the then Chief Guest, Naresh Kumar, Chief Secretary, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. Vivek Narayan Sharma, Advocate of Supreme Court expressed vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and the Summit ended with a promise to continue the legacy with more force and more impact.
