New Delhi, January 04, 2022:
During the last wave of COVID-19, it was seen that there was a sudden shortage of oxygen in hospitals across the country and many hospitals started sounding the emergency alarm of running out of oxygen. The government was finding it difficult to decide which hospital should be provided oxygen first and which hospital needed it the most.
At that time, the process of allocation of oxygen was being controlled by the central government, due to which it became very difficult to arrange oxygen for all the states. Even at that time, the steps taken by the Delhi government to control a problem like Corona are an example for the country.
Whether it is the process of home isolation or the oxygen concentrator reaching the patients at their homes, the Delhi government has taken every possible decision in time so that the corona patients in Delhi could be treated smoothly.
Continuing this series, the Delhi Government, while reviewing the supply of oxygen and keeping in mind the third wave of Covid, has decided that it will install telemetry devices in liquid medical oxygen tanks present in the major 53 private and government hospitals in Delhi. This will help in monitoring how much oxygen is available in which hospital so that oxygen can be delivered to the needy hospital in time in case of emergency.
What is a telemetry device and what is its need in LMO (Liquid Medical Oxygen) tanks?
LMO i.e. Liquid Medical Oxygen is nothing but high purity oxygen which is used for medical treatment. Oxygen is important for the treatment of patients with severe Covid-19 as the Coronavirus affects the functioning of the lungs and gradually the lungs become incapable of taking oxygen from outside and this disrupts the supply of oxygen to different parts of the body.
Due to this, problems like shortness of breath in Covid-19 patients as well as low oxygen levels in the body. In this case, the patient needs oxygen therapy, which is supplied through medical oxygen kept in LMO tanks. The medical oxygen is stored in large tankers outside hospitals and delivered to patients through pipelines or through oxygen cylinders when needed. Telemetry devices are installed in these liquid medical oxygen tanks so that they can be monitored on a real-time basis.
The telemetry device will help in transmitting the live information of the amount of oxygen present in each liquid medical oxygen tank to the war room of the Delhi government. This will help in finding out how much oxygen is left in which hospital so that oxygen can be delivered to that hospital in time.
The Delhi government has been very serious about Corona in the national capital from the very beginning. Keeping in view the third wave of Covid, the Delhi government has decided to install telemetry devices in all liquid medical oxygen tanks to ensure the availability of oxygen in Delhi hospitals. It is the effort of the Delhi government that no one should lose their life due to the lack of oxygen in the third wave of Corona.
The Delhi government has decided to install 100 remote telemetry devices in  Liquid Medical Oxygen Storage Tanks in 53 major hospitals of Delhi so that real-time monitoring can be done centrally through the Delhi government’s COVID War Room. These 100 oxygen storage tanks have a total capacity of 845.92 MT. With this device, the government will be able to ensure the information of oxygen availability on a real-time basis and oxygen will be delivered on time to the needy hospital without any hassle.
