“Centre for Robotic Joint Replacement” inaugurated at Parmanand Special Surgery Hospital

Knee replacement surgery is a boon for patients suffering from Osteoarthritis of the knee joint. It relieves pain, increases  walking ability & improves patient’s quality of life. Introduction of Robotics in the field of Joint replacement has brought a much greater degree of precision in the field of knee replacement. Delhi’s first fully active Robot for Knee replacement was introduced at Delhi’s Sant Parmanand Hospital in March 2022.

A dedicated “Centre for Robotic Joint Replacement” was inaugurated by Honourable Member of parliament & previous Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan at Parmanand Special Surgery Hospital, Jamna bazaar. Speaking on the occasion Dr Harsh Vardhan recalled the tremendous work done by Parmanand Hospital & also congratulated the hospital for acquiring the new Robot for Knee replacement.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Shekhar Srivastav, Head of the department & Robotic Knee replacement specialist explained the benefits of Robotic surgery to the audience. Dr Srivastav who is the first surgeon in Delhi to perform surgery with a fully automatic Robotic system & who has already performed more than 70 cases told that the precision in planning & execution with Robots improves the function outcome & longevity of the implant. The tissue trauma is minimal, the pain is less & recovery is faster.

The function was attended by more than 300 persons including patients who’ve undergone Robotic Knee replacement surgery. Some of the patients shared their recovery story after Robotic Knee replacement surgery at the hospital.
