New Delhi, July 17, 2022:
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal issued a series of firm appeals to the people of Delhi in view of COVID-19 on Sunday. The CM sought the public’s attention towards getting COVID-19 vaccine’s booster doses administered as soon as possible and said, “just like the first & second dose, precaution doses are absolutely free too. All those people above the age of 18, for whom it has been more than six months after their second dose can get a booster dose now.
About 3.5 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Delhi, in which 1.81 crore first and 1.53 crore second doses have been administered, & 18.5 lakh booster doses have been administered. Many people are not getting the precaution dose administered, only about 10 percent of the people in Delhi have got the precaution dose.
Appeal to all senior citizens — if you have not got the second dose or precaution dose yet, then please get it administered soon. All health workers and frontline workers should also get precaution dose administered as soon as possible. We want you to be healthy & safe. Appeal to all parents — if you have not got the second dose to your children of 12 to 17 years of age administered, then please get it done soon. If the school authorities request the district administration, then we will organise camps for the children to get the second dose administered in the schools too. Everyone must get the precaution dose administered and follow all the protocols of Corona.”
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal brought the attention of the people to the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said, “The entire world has been battling with COVID-19 for the past 2.5 years. People of Delhi also showed great resolve in this fight against this virus. Now, the situation is in control. Cases have reduced significantly. Barring a few, the condition of all the patients getting infected is not serious. Most of them are getting home treatment and they need not be hospitalized for their recovery. The deaths caused due to COVID-19 are close to nil. But the fact remains that this disease is dangerous and we pray that nobody gets infected with this disease.”
CM Arvind Kejriwal emphasised the need of completing the course of vaccination dose and in this sequence, he requested the citizens to take the second and precaution dose. He added, “The Delhi Government has taken step time-to-time for vaccination of people of Delhi. We ensured that the vaccine was available free of cost to everyone and the support of the Union Government was imminent.
Today, I am appealing to all of you to take the precaution dose at the earliest. This dose needs to be administered after the first and second dose. Those who are yet to take the precaution should do it immediately. Very small share of the total population has taken this precaution dose. It is also available free of cost just like the other two doses. People are not required to pay any money, they just have to spare some time to get vaccinated. All the adults i.e. people aged more than 18 years who took the second vaccine more than six months ago can get this precaution dose.”
CM Arvind Kejriwal informed about the upgraded facilities for vaccination for the convenience of the people. He continued, “We have also added a vaccination facility to the Mohalla clinic. People can walk into the nearest mohalla clinic or they can go to the Government vaccination centre for the precaution dose. Those who are yet to take the second dose, they are requested to take it immediately.
We wish that you remain healthy and away from every type of illness. I am specifically appealing to the senior citizens because they are prone to fatality because of comorbidity. Be it blood pressure, diabetes or other age-related issues. All the healthcare workers who are working tirelessly to serve the citizens in the hospitals and vaccination centers are also requested to get the precaution dose.
I also request all the frontline workers which include people from civil defence to get their precaution dose as their work requires interaction with the public on a daily basis. We want them to be healthy and fit. Children aged between 12-17 are eligible for a second dose but a lot of them are yet to take that dose. I request them as well as their parents to ensure that they get vaccinated.”
CM Arvind Kejriwal encouraged the citizens to take the doses at the earliest and assured to provide tailor-made support. He concluded, “All the schools can request the District Administration to organize a camp to administer the second dose to the students studying in the schools. So far, 3.5 crore vaccines have been administered in Delhi. Out of this, 1.81 crore are first dose, 1.53 are second dose. And only 18.5 lakh people have taken the precautionary dose.
This means that a lot of people are yet to get the precautionary dose. This number is only 10% of the people who got the first dose. We have a huge capacity of administering 1 lakh doses per day in Delhi, both private and government facilities included. I wish for health and well-being of every Delhiite and I request them to follow all the COVID-19 protocols. Use of mask is a must. I pray to God that nobody gets infected from COVID-19 now onwards.”
