At the event, Dr Manish Singhal, Senior Consultant, Medical Oncology, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, said,” When we discuss oncology or cancer medicine, we know that people are not only very fearful, but also there are a lot of misconceptions regarding its treatment . These myths and misconceptions regarding treatment and regarding care for oncology patients and their caregivers can compromise their quality of life in a detrimental way. Therefore, busting these myths is important. Hence platforms like this become extremely important for us to not only educate people about importance of prevention and early detection of diseases like cancer but also discuss scientific rationale behind denouncing common myths“.

Speaking about the initiative Dr Rajesh Chawla, Senior consultant, pulmonology and critical care, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital said “With a deterioration in Air Quality Index, there has been a subsequent rise in the number of patients suffering from COPD and bronchitis asthama over the last 2 decades. While the elderly patients are getting affected on a large scale, the life expectancy of the people have reduced by 3.2 years.  Furthermore, according to a survey, 21% of children are also experiencing lung function problems.
