New Delhi, June 07, 2023:

Theatre festival – Vibgyor – Natya Kumbh, consisting of nine plays, written by celebrated playwright Mrinal Mathur, Directed & performed by leading theatre troupes from across the country will be performed at the Little Theatre Group Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi, from June 4th – 11th June, 2023.

Celebrating drama and dramatists spanning various genres, including comedy, drama, satire, and patriotism the plays provide insightful perspectives and aim to provide a meeting ground for different ideas and ideologies.

Ankur Kalra, Managing Director, Vibgyor said ““Through Vibgyor -Natya Kumbh, we aim to provide a platform for talented playwrights, actors and theatre enthusiasts to showcase their art and connect with audiences who appreciate the power of storytelling”.

Through compassion, sometimes with biting satire or humorous wordplay, some of the subjects that the plays of Vibgyor -Natya Kumbh touches include : Kashmir, the Farm laws and farmer’s movement, India’s history and political narratives, the hypocrisy of the middle class, the #MeToo movement, gender, power, feminism, the INA trials and contemporary protest movements, and India’s soul-numbing bureaucracy.

They take recourse to myth and history, wearing a sardonic lens at times and at times, with geniality, but always with drama and emotional power. The plays will be performed and read by some of the leading theatre groups of India at a festival that has the vision of taking this celebration to cities across India and the world.

We see Vibgyor -Natya Kumbh as the beginning of a movement that helps bring alive conversations in today’s polarized world. We plan to take this to multiple cities across the country after the successful completion of the first edition in New Delhi. The aim is to foster a vibrant and inclusive theatre community, where artists can thrive and audiences can immerse themselves in the magic of live performances” further continued Mr. Kalra.
