Mumbai/Chandigarh, October 17, 2023:

Sleep is essential for our physical and mental well-being. Despite sleeping through the night, more than 60% of the young population in the country still find themselves tired and fatigued during the day.

Nyumi recently launched a sleep survey gathering more than 500 responses across India to address and gain insights into people’s sleep patterns. This survey aims to understand the diverse sleep habits and challenges that individuals face, ultimately helping Nyumi tailor solutions to improve the sleep quality of their customers.

Gen Z: A generation that is uniting for a common dream- More Sleep

67% of Gen Z have expressed a strong desire for more sleep. While Gen Z is known for its hustle and ambition, it seems that sleep remains a coveted commodity for these individuals. Whether it’s the demands of school, work, or the digital age, this generation is embracing a collective aspiration for a few more precious hours of slumber to recharge and rejuvenate. It’s a reminder that even in the fast-paced world of Gen Z, quality rest remains a top priority for their well-being and performance.

While millennials are going through a sleep deprivation paradox

In recent years, sleep deprivation has become a growing concern, especially among the younger population. It’s evident that Millennials between the ages of 35 and 44 are facing sleep challenges that go beyond simply retiring to bed on time.

Waking up to the truth: Most young adults (35-44 yrs) in the country are light sleepers

The prevalence of light sleepers is a notable trend among adults, with 38% falling into this category. However, the impact of this sleep pattern is most pronounced in the 35-44 age group, where a staggering 63% of adults report experiencing poor sleep symptoms like headache & losing interest in work the next day. This finding underscores the need for better sleep quality solutions and highlights the challenges faced by a significant portion of the population within this age bracket.

In this age group, common sleep disturbances include waking up multiple times during the night, tossing and turning, and spending time scrolling on social media. These patterns are significantly affecting the quality of their sleep cycle.

“In a world where the importance of sleep often goes underestimated, our mission at Nyumi is to shed light on the sleep paradox affecting our younger generations. Our recent sleep survey uncovers a deep-rooted issue where a significant portion of Gen Z and Millennials crave more sleep despite their best efforts. Many people don’t get quality sleep, impacting how they feel the next day. This drives us to keep innovating and customising solutions, like our sleep gummies, to help achieve the rest they truly deserve.” – says Ananya Agarwal, Founder, Nyumi.

Over 45 years: Waking unrefreshed, wrestling with sleep

A significant 44% above 45 years do not feel refreshed when they wake up, at least once a week, underscoring the prevalence of sleep challenges. Additionally, 56% of people in the same age group face difficulties falling asleep, highlighting the importance of addressing sleep quality issues in this age bracket.

These findings serve as a reminder of the importance of understanding and improving sleep patterns, even as we grow older, to maintain overall health and vitality. It underscores the notion that sleep is not a facet of our well-being to be neglected, but rather a vital pillar that upholds our physical and mental health.
