New Delhi, August 06, 2026:

Breastfeeding is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to give a newborn the healthiest possible start in life. Mother’s milk provides complete nutrition during the first six months and strengthens a baby’s immunity, supports healthy growth and development and helps protect against infections. For mothers, breastfeeding promotes faster recovery after childbirth, lowers the risk of certain cancers and helps build a unique emotional bond with the baby.

While breastfeeding is natural but it is not always easy. Many new mothers experience challenges such as difficulty with latching, concerns about milk supply, sore nipples or fatigue. During this time encouragement from family members and timely guidance from healthcare professionals can make a significant difference. No mother should feel guilty or alone if she needs help.

On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week let us create an environment where every mother feels supported, informed and confident in her breastfeeding journey. Small acts of understanding from families, employers and society can go a long way in ensuring that mothers are able to give their babies the best possible start in life.

“Breastfeeding is not just about feeding a baby, it is about nurturing a healthier future for both mother and child. Every mother deserves the right support to make this journey a positive and fulfilling experience.”
