Union AYUSH Minister inaugurates India-UK Health Summit 2026; welcomes systematic training programme for AYUSH professionals
New Delhi, October 9, 2026:
Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, today emphasised that when traditional medicine systems are supported by scientific research, robust clinical evidence, quality standards and responsible integration, they can significantly contribute to strengthening preventive healthcare and holistic well-being across the world.
The minister inaugurated the 2nd India-UK Health Summit 2026 in New Delhi, organised by Marengo Asia Hospitals and BAPIO Training Academy under the theme “Connecting Healthcare, Education and Innovation”. The two-day event provided a common platform for healthcare professionals, academics and institutional representatives from India and the United Kingdom.
Welcoming the launch of a systematic training and capacity-building initiative for AYUSH professionals, Jadhav said that scientific research, accurate clinical evidence, quality standards and responsible integration can enable traditional medicine systems to make significant contributions to preventive healthcare and holistic well-being.
This initiative includes two six-month certificate courses for AYUSH graduates and postgraduates: the “Certificate in Critical Care and Emergency Support” and the “Certificate in Lifestyle Health and Wellness Counselling and Practice”. ” These programmes aim to strengthen clinical support skills and preventive health counselling through systematic teaching and supervised practical training.
Highlighting the complementary strengths of the two countries, the minister noted that the UK’s experience in clinical governance, patient safety and quality assurance, combined with India’s clinical expertise , technological innovation and healthcare delivery capabilities, can help build more effective and accountable healthcare systems.
Jadhav congratulated the organisers and participating institutions and expressed confidence that the conference will translate the discussions into lasting partnerships and concrete outcomes for the healthcare systems of both countries.
The conference is expected to further strengthen institutional collaboration between India and the United Kingdom, while also creating new opportunities for knowledge exchange, professional development and innovation in healthcare delivery .
