Yoga an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition : CM

 

Chandigarh, May 30,2018 : Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh Shri Jai Ram Thakur addressed the people assembled at Dhalpur Ground Kullu on May 28,2018 to perform Yoga through video conference from his official residence Oak Over.

He said Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition which embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature.

Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that Yoga is not a religion; it is a way of living that aims towards ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’. He said that Yoga recharges the body with cosmic energy and helps to attain perfect equilibrium, removes negative thoughts from the mind and toxins from the body. It also increases self-awareness and promotes self- healing, he added.

The Chief Minister said that it also helps in increasing flexibility, muscle strength and body tone and improves respiration, energy and vitality.  He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested United Nations in 2014 to celebrate June 21 as the International Yoga Day and since then 21st June is being celebrated as International Yoga Day. He said that ‘Hum Fit to India Fit’ campaign, launched by the Prime Minister has motivated millions of people of the country to go for yoga and other fitness exercises. He also appreciated the endeavour of the Kullu administration and Deputy Commissioner Kullu Yunus Khan.
