Yoga controls stress and anxiety : Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh

New Delhi, June 22, 2018 :
Yoga was an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition as it embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action with harmony between man and nature and a holistic approach to health and well-being. This was stated by Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur while interacting with the media on the sidelines of the World Yoga Day celebration organized at The Ridge, here today.

Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that Prime Minster Shri Narendra Modi in the year 2014 suggested United Nations to celebrate June 21, the longest day of the year as the International Yoga Day. He said that since then, whole world was celebrating this day as Yoga Day. Yoga was not only an exercise but a way discovers the sense of oneness with the world and the nature, he added.

The Chief Minister said that the art of practicing yoga helps in controlling an individual’s mind, body and soul. He said that it brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind and helps manage stress and anxiety.
