The finalists gave each other tough competition. The quiz took on several forms, which included rapid fire rounds, crosswords, a guess who questionnaire, multiple choice questions, a buzzer round and a lot more. Students greeted each round with immense enthusiasm and competitiveness. The quiz tested their knowledge of psychology and related fields, pushing them to think logically and analytically.

Winning Team Birla Vidya Niketan said, “We are ecstatic to have won Psych – ED 2018. It has been a tremendously riveting and enjoyable journey. The competition was demanding, fast paced and thorough in its execution. We learnt about teamwork; team dynamics and team motivation. It has challenged us, taught us, puzzled us, and above all encouraged us to further our knowledge of psychology.”

Dr. Samir Parikh said, “Psych-ED is an effort towards encouraging young minds to read psychology, enjoy psychology, and break the stereotype. In a country that has such a major deficit of psychologists, we aim to encourage more and more students to take up the field. The response has been overwhelming. We reached out to several young students across the entire length and breadth of the country, kindling their knowledge and their enthusiasm for psychology; it has been a great learning experience for everyone involved. The third edition of Fortis Psych-ED represents a milestone for the field of psychology. Understanding the implications of psychology as a subject is the key to unlocking the untapped potential of human resources. This will further enhance the country’s growth and productivity. The quiz is a medium through which we have heralded future generations of psychologists into the field, giving them real life challenges and problems to solve.”

Conducted under the aegis of Dr. Samir Parikh, Director, Department of Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences, Fortis Healthcare the initiative witnessed national participation from more than 2500 students coming from different cities across the whole country. The winner Birla Vidya Niketan got a prize of Rupees 50,000, (name of school) the first runner up Billabong High International School Mumbai got a prize of Rupees 30,000 and the Second runner up Sunbeam School Varansi got a prize of Rupees 20,000, respectively.
