Rotary International’s North India Car Rally concludes with a strong message on Immunization

New Delhi, October 14, 2018:

On the swift and sunny Sunday, the national capital was filled with lots of vigor and enthusiasm as an enthralling group of 500+ cars and bikes were sailing through the city roads as part of a noble initiative. The “North India Car Rally For Promoting Immunization” as the name suggests was aimed at accelerating the awareness for vaccines of severe diseases like Measles, Rubella, and Polio amongst masses and was jointly organized by Rotary International’s India National PolioPlus Committee (INPPC), Rotary International (RI) Districts 3011 and 3012 and Inner Wheel District 301. The rally was flagged off by Deepak Kapur (Chairman, Rotary International’s INPPC. The car rally was duly supported by Rotaract and Interact of Districts 3011 & 3012, RI Districts 3053, 3054, 3070, 3080, 3090, 3100 & 3110 along with Rotary International, Government of India, WHO, UNICEF, NDMC, Aditya Birla Capital as partners for the campaign.

The high octane rally took a flying start from multiple locations in the Northern India region, including Jaipur, Chandigarh, Rewari, Rohtak, Panchkula, Meerut, Moradabad, Bhiwadi and more. While, for the Delhi-NCR region, the rally was flagged off from Sarojni Nagar metro station. After spreading awareness regarding Measles, Rubella and Polio Immunization in the slums on their way, the vehicles from various cities finally culminated the rally at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri (New Delhi).

All the cars and bikes participating in the rally were bedecked with flags and informative stickers to inform people about the benefits of MR and Polio vaccines. During the rally, informative pamphlets on MR and polio, benefits of vaccination and free vaccination by Government were distributed by the participating Rotarians to the community residing en-route to the final culminating point of the car rally.
