New Delhi, December 27, 2018:
“There has been a significant increase in patient’s footfalls who are suffering from respiratory disorders. Earlier we use to have 40-45 patients in a day who were affected of adverse respiratory conditions but from past 3 weeks the number of patients has doubled, approximately 80 patients per OPD. Undoubtedly, elderly people (65 above) are most affected but we also witness an increase in patients of younger age groups.
It is advised to stay indoors as much as possible and avoid outdoor activities which results in heavy breathing such as running, jogging, cycling, gym and other sports, especially in the early morning hours. Carry a handkerchief or a good quality mask which filters out PM 2.5, to reduce the direct impact of smog on your lungs and save yourself from dust allergies while going out. Include intake of vitamin C & E and beta-carotene in your meals to boost immunity. Asthmatic patients should carry their inhalers without fail. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any kind of discomfort or uneasiness while breathing.
Also, it’s high time that the society with help of government should contribute to fight pollution as the current situation is affecting all irrespective of gender or age group.”
