After inspiring green movements across cities including Lucknow, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Jaipur, Patna, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad, the SBI Green Marathon Season 6 arrived in the heart of the nation — New Delhi.On a refreshing Sunday morning, the iconic Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium transformed into a vibrant hub of fitness, community spirit, and environmental awareness as thousands of runners gathered to support the cause of sustainability.
Set against the historic sporting backdrop of the national capital, the Delhi edition beautifully reflected the marathon’s philosophy — “Run for a Greener India.” Known for its passionate running communities, active lifestyle culture, and increasing focus on sustainable urban living, Delhi provided the perfect stage for this nationwide green movement.
Over 6,000+ enthusiastic participants — including professional runners, students, families, corporate teams, fitness groups, and defence personnel — came together with a shared purpose: to celebrate health, endurance, and environmental responsibility. Every stride taken on the course symbolized Delhi’s commitment to a healthier lifestyle and a greener future.
The marathon was ceremoniously flagged off by esteemed dignitaries Debasish Mishra – Chief General Manager – New Delhi Circle, Madhumita Mishra – President of SBI Ladies Club Delhi Circle, Ravi Shankar – Chief General Manager – SBI, Dipesh Raj – General Manager – SBI, Neelesh Dwivedi – General Manager – SBI, SVS Nagendra Kumar – General Manager – SBI, Manoj Kumar Singh – Deputy General Manager – SBI, Sunny Kumar Singh – DM New Delhi, Preeti Nihalani – Chief Operating Officer – Radio Mirchi, Pooja Gulati – National Director IP Solutions – Radio Mirchi, Nitin Singh – Operation Director – Radio Mirchi and Sumit Kakkar – National Product Revenue Head – Radio Mirchi reaffirming the bank’s continued commitment to sustainability, community well-being, and nation-building through initiatives that encourage positive environmental action.Staying true to its eco-first philosophy, the SBI Green Marathon delivered a thoughtfully curated and environmentally responsible race experience:
- Organic T-shirts, plantable BIBs, and reusable cloth goodie bags promoted sustainable practices while reducing single-use waste.
- Dedicated waste management systems ensured responsible waste segregation and disposal, reinforcing the marathon’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Adding energy and excitement to the morning were Radio Mirchi’s RJs — RJ Saatvik and RJ Shruti — whose lively stage presence, engaging interactions, and motivational energy kept participants energized and the crowd entertained throughout the event.
The marathon featured 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon categories, with AIMS-certified routes ensuring global-standard course accuracy, safety, and a smooth racing experience for runners of all levels. The vibrant roads of Delhi provided a dynamic racecourse, blending endurance, city energy, and the spirit of community participation.
With every kilometre completed, Delhi strengthened the message that collective action can drive meaningful environmental change. From the energetic flag-off to the eco-conscious race arrangements and the celebration at the finish line, the city proudly carried forward the mission of the SBI Green Marathon’s 17-city journey.
