Chandigarh, June 21, 2021 :
Yoga Day is celebrated across the globe to highlight the importance of Yoga and how it has been beneficial in keeping the body and mind in sound health. Considered as a holistic approach and targeting the different systems of the body and the mind, Yoga renews the mind with confidence.
Following Prime Minister Modi’s proposal, 21 June was marked as the date to celebrate International Yoga Day since it marks the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, which holds special significance in many parts of the world. The International Yoga Day was established in 2014.
As per the scriptures and its beliefs, Lord Shiva is the father of Yoga. Shiva attained the level of full enlightenment around 15 thousand years ago, according to a poem written at that time. With the passage of time and years, yoga evolved into what is now known as modern yoga.
