4th CSR Health Impact Awards Honours COVID-19 Heroes for Exceptional Efforts to Save Lives & Livelihoods

Hon’ble Justice Swatanter Kumar, Former Supreme Court Judge and Former Chairperson, National Green Tribunal (NGT) graced the award ceremony.

Infusing new life into the efforts of corporate India to do their share in giving back to the society, the 4th edition of prestigious CSR Health Impact Awards recognised the institutions and individuals who continued to provide support overcoming the fear of the pandemic.

The CSR Health Impact Awards is a flagship initiative of the Integrated Health and Wellbeing (IHW) Council, a premier think tank promoting health for all, to encourage corporates to make greater investments in the area of health and contributory areas under their CSR obligations. The 4th edition was hosted in association with Jagran Pehel.

The special COVID-19 category of awards recognised exemplary efforts of institutions and individuals under CSR COVID Relief Project, CSR COVID Protection Project; CSR COVID Indigenous Response Project; COVID Healthcare Providers; COVID Public Health Warriors; COVID Social Impact Businesses; COVID Essential Heroes; and COVID Social Champions categories. The mainstream CSR categories awarded covered Health CSR Project; Environment Impact Initiative; WASH Initiative; CSR Food Initiative; Swachh Bharat Impact; CSR Health Campaign; and Rural Health Initiative.

A total of 34 corporate organisations and charitable trusts were recognised under the COVID categories of award for their health-focussed social upliftment work during the pandemic while the mainstream CSR awards, spread across 6 categories, were lifted by 13 companies for their dedication to work even in time of pandemic.

SBI Insurance, Reliance Power, Tech MahindraFoundation, Oxfam India, ReNew Power, Zydus Foundation, and Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh were honoured for their impactful interventions to help people overcome the disruptions caused by COVID-19 while Janssen, J&J India, Sanofi, ICICI Lombard, NTPC Ltd, and Apollo Total Health were recognised for continued efforts to makes lives better in rural areas and less-attended sections of the society.

Winners of the special Jury Awards, Project StepOne and American India Foundation, were nominated by a jury comprising seasoned administrators such as Shri J.V.R. Prasada Rao, Former Union Health Secretary, Government of India, Special Advisor to UNAIDS; legal stalwart Justice Swatanter Kumar, Former Judge Supreme Court of India and Former Chairperson, National Green Tribunal; legislator Ms Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament, New Delhi Lok Sabha Constituency & Lawyer, Supreme Court; and eminent public health expert Prof K. Srinath Reddy, President, Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), among others.

Talking about the process to select the winners, Hon’ble Justice Swatanter Kumar, Former Supreme Court Judge and Former Chairperson, National Green Tribunal (NGT), also a member of the jury, said, “I compliment the entire team of IHW Council for the good work – today, we are facing COVID-19 only because we didn’t care enough for our natural resources that also affects the health of the lowest strata of the society. I congratulate the awardees for their distinguished service to the society.”

By honouring the ones chosen for awards, we can express my deepest appreciation and gratitude towards these heroes and warriors for what they are doing. I am sure you will continue the efforts and initiatives to make health a priority and reap the dividends of good health,” said Mr. Kamal Narayan, CEO, Integrated Health and Wellbeing (IHW) Council.
