New Delhi, September 14, 2026:

The BRICS Declaration provides an important policy platform to deepen healthcare cooperation and build a more integrated health-technology ecosystem across member countries. For AiMeD, a key priority should now be translating this intent into concrete cooperation on medical devices and HealthTech, through greater regulatory convergence, mutual recognition of internationally accepted standards, and efficient pathways for cross-border acceptance of proven technologies. This can reduce duplication in approvals, lower barriers to market access and accelerate patient access to quality, affordable innovation.

BRICS has the opportunity to create a trusted framework where evidence-based medical devices, digital health solutions and other HealthTech innovations developed and validated in one member country can gain predictable acceptance across others. Such an approach would strengthen supply-chain resilience, promote technology partnerships, encourage R&D and manufacturing within the Global South, and create larger markets for innovation. India, with its growing medical-device manufacturing and digital-health capabilities, can play a leading role in shaping this inter-BRICS HealthTech cooperation agenda.”
