New Delhi, November 10, 2020:

While the pandemic has caused major distress to all sections of society, it is the elderly who have been one of the most vulnerable to the virus.  Added to that, major southern Indian cities, including Chennai, Coimbatore and Bangalore, have already begun reporting moderate to unhealthy air quality levels. Noticing the worsening situation and conscious of the approaching festival of lights, the Columbia Pacific Communities along with its 3000 senior residents is launching a green Deepavali digital initiative called #GreenOath.

Through #GreenOath is, India’s largest senior living community operator is calling out to senior citizens across the country to support the cause by participating in an online contest and sharing their ideas on how to celebrate a green Deepavali this year.

This also creates an opportunity for senior residents from 1600 homes in Columbia Pacific Communities across 5 cities to feel less isolated and more a part of a larger family this Deepavali.

But that’s not all. ElderEase, India’s first omni channel store for senior home care solutions, is partnering with Columbia Pacific Communities, to spread a little festive cheer amongst seniors and coming on board as the official gifting partners for this initiative. The most compelling ideas of a Green Deepavali will win gifts from ElderEase.

“The elderly is the most vulnerable demographic in the pandemic. The last eight months have been particularly hard for them, living in fear and away from their loved one, in isolated conditions. This year, a lot of them would celebrate Diwali away from their loved ones. And so, it was important for us to bring a little cheer back in their lives in a small, yet meaningful way. The idea was to urge them to pave the way for a green Deepavali this year while ensuring they felt like a part of a larger community. This is one of our many endeavors to bring senior citizens together and celebrate these precious years”, said Piali Dasgupta, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Columbia Pacific Communities.

The initiative will see seniors sharing their ideas, thoughts, visuals and experiences of celebrating a green Deepavali. and taking the #greenoath to ensure pollution levels are in check and the rapid spread of the virus in curbed.

The contest is open to all senior citizens in India between November 14 and November 16, 2020.
