New Delhi, May 12, 2021 :

Bhatia Hospital on Wednesday organized a programme to celebrate International Nurses Day. The programme was marked by a felicitation ceremony for the hospital’s nursing staff recovered COVID patients. The hospital also awarded their nursing staff with an appreciation certificate. The aim was to honour them for their relentless service towards the society, especially during the pandemic.

This year’s celebration was indeed special even as the country is battling a second COVID wave. The spread of COVID across the globe has reiterated the importance of the nursing profession for the general population. Many healthcare professionals including nurses have fallen victim to the disease, and most of them contracted the infection while taking care of other patients.

Speaking about the event, Dr Rajeev Boudhankar, CEO-Bhatia Hospital said, “We are extremely honoured today to recognise the work of our nursing staff and felicitate them. They have done tremendous work all throughout the pandemic. Words are not enough to appreciate their dedication towards their duty. We thought it would be apt to have COVID survivors honour them and thank them on behalf of the hospital staff for their efforts.”

Each year, International Nurses Day is observed on May 12 to mark the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.
