Governor and CM mourn demise of Smt. Urmila Singh

Chandigarh, May 30,2018 : Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur have mourned the demise of Ex-Governor of Himachal Pradesh Smt. Urmila Singh, who passed away due to prolonged illness at a private hospital in Indore on Tuesday. She was 71. She was appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh on 25th January, 2010 and served the State till 27th January, 2015.

Acharya Devvrat, in his condolence message, has termed Smt. Urmila Singh as a good Governor, who worked for empowerment of women and neglected sections of the society in the State.

In his condolence message, Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that Smt. Urmila Singh worked for the welfare of tribal communities in Madhya Pradesh and her contribution to the State as Governor will be remembered by all.

Acharya Devvrat and Shri Jai Ram Thakur prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to family members to bear this irreparable loss.

All the State Cabinet Ministers have also condoled the sad demise of Smt. Urmila Singh.
