Inauguration of web seminar on ‘Yoga Sutras and its technical terminology’ at Patanjali University

A five-day web-seminar on the topic ‘Yoga Sutras and its technical terminology’, sponsored by the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology, Ministry of Education, Government of India and arranged by Patanjali University, Haridwar, commenced with a grand Vedic chant. Dean of V-V (teaching and research) and the convenor of this program, Dr. V.K. After welcoming various guest scholars, researchers and participants present at the program by Katiyar, a brief outline of the program was presented by Dr. Rudra Bhandari, co-convenor of the program.

The Chief Guest and President of the program, CSTT, New Delhi, Prof. Avnish Kumar, in his address appreciated the Bhagiratha effort of Patanjali family for prevention of corona, brief about the scope and future plan of Vocabulary Commission discussed. Along with this, Prof. Avnish described Sanskrit as the most ancient and full of immense knowledge wealth and it was the language of discussion among the enlightened classes in ancient times.

Prof. Ramesh Kumar Pandey, the distinguished guest of the workshop and the Vice Chancellor of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Central Sanskrit University, called this workshop as very important and said that there is nothing as sacred as knowledge and yoga is a divine means of acquiring knowledge.

In his address Dr. Mahavir Aggarwal, a scholar of Ved Vidya, Saraswat guest of the program and Vice-Chancellor of Patanjali University, while bowing to Honorable Chancellor of Patanjali University, Yogarshi Pujya Swami Ramdev Ji and Yashasvi Vice Chancellor Acharya Balkrishna Ji said There is nothing and rejuvenation of life cannot be possible without spiritualism. After this, the Presidential address was delivered through a video message by the eminent patriarch Acharya Balakrishna, the patriarch of Patanjali University. Stressing the need to explain the world in the language of the world, he said that without knowing the meaning of classical and technical words, its divine spirit cannot be accepted.

Three technical sessions concluded at the end of the inaugural session. In the first technical session of the first day, Dr. Mahavir Ji explained in detail the first 15 sutras of the first chapter of Maharishi Patanjalikrit Yoga Sutra. He described the practice of asceticism as helpful in eliminating different types of mind-set.

In the second session Prof. K.K., former Vice-Chancellor of S-Vyasa University, Bangalore. Subrahmanyam gave a detailed explanation of Ashtanga Yoga and inspired to imbibe discipline in life.

In the third session of the program, some formulas of the second chapter of Yoga Sutra were highlighted by Shri Lal Bihari Singh Ji, the penetrator of Gayatri Vidya. He motivated the participants for the continuous practice of duty devotion and self-study.

In this program, guests including speakers, University Registrar Dr. Praveen Punia ji, assistant chancellor Swami Paramarthdev ji and all the officials, all faculty and department heads, teachers, research students were connected through online. More than 100 participants from other institutions joined the program and increased their knowledge. The program was successfully conducted by Dr. Rudra Bhandari and Dr. Vipin Kumar Dwivedi, Professor and Covalent of the University. Finally, Dr. Dwivedi thanked the guest speakers and all the participants on behalf of the university family.
