Mumbai/New Delhi, March 09,2026:
Marking International Women’s Day, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road organised a large-scale health awareness and screening initiative for women journalists, police constables and frontline female workers. The programme aimed to highlight the importance of preventive healthcare and encourage women to take proactive steps towards their own well-being.
As part of the initiative, more than 300 women underwent free essential health screenings. The tests included blood sugar, blood pressure (BP), Bone Mineral Density (BMD), lung function tests and ECG. These screenings are considered crucial for early detection of lifestyle-related conditions and heart health risks that are increasingly affecting women.
The health camp was designed especially for women working in demanding professions such as journalism, law enforcement and public service, where long hours, stress and irregular schedules often lead to neglect of personal health. Through this initiative, Wockhardt Hospitals provided them with access to important diagnostic tests and expert medical consultations at no cost.
Healthcare specialists from the hospital also conducted awareness sessions on common health risks faced by women today, including rising cases of heart disease, bone health issues, respiratory problems and lifestyle disorders. Doctors noted that cardiovascular diseases are no longer limited to older populations, and an increasing number of women are now experiencing heart-related problems due to stress, sedentary lifestyles and delayed medical check-ups.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Sushil Kumar, Centre Head, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road, said, “Women often prioritise the health of their families and communities, but many delay addressing their own health concerns. Through initiatives like ‘I Am Fearless,’ we aim to encourage women to seek timely medical consultation, adopt self-care practices and stay aware about preventive healthcare.”
He further emphasised that women often prioritise the health of others over their own and that initiatives like “I Am Fearless” encourage timely medical consultation, self-care and preventive health awareness. The outreach sessions created a safe platform for open discussions, enabling women to ask questions without hesitation.
The initiative reflects Wockhardt Hospitals’ commitment to strengthening community health while recognising the contribution of women who play a vital role in society. Through such programmes, the hospital continues to promote early diagnosis, awareness and accessible healthcare for women.
