On the sad demise of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, late M KarunanidhiDr Prathap Reddy, Founder & Chairman, Apollo Hospitals said :

“With the passing away of Kalaignar Karunanidhi, the state of Tamil Nadu has lost one of its finest leaders and the people, a visionary social reformist. He was more than just a politician, and he used his writing and oratorical skills to further social and rationalist ideals which he believed in and stood for.

My heart is heavy today… his passing away is a personal loss to me. He was always a supporter of my efforts to build India’s first corporate hospital. I remember his words of praise when he felicitated me on receiving the Padma Vibhushan. His words that Apollo Hospitals had become synonymous with the word ‘Hospital’ and the name Apollo had become a symbol of modern healthcare in India gave me tremendous motivation to continue to work towards socially equitible healthcare system. I shall be forever grateful for his encouragement that helped me succeed in the face of challenges,”
