New Delhi, June 19, 2020 :

The new normal created by COVID has been proving extremely challenging for households to ensure impeccable hygiene is achieved through safer means. Imagine a contraption of the size of a microwave at your home to sterilize everything right from groceries to home supplies to water bottles, mobile phone, wallets, currency and stationery!

PATHER- a Mumbai based technology startup- has unveiled a sterilizing unit named as GUARD PRO. It’s a high-powered and extremely safe UVC chamber that is  made-in-India, affordable, easy-to-use, and can be used to sterilize almost everything – saving time, efforts, exposure to harsh chemicals and the whole confusion around choosing the right sterilizing solution. Above all, the automated unit comes with a predictometer function to let the user take timely control of its validity & effectiveness.

“UVC has been a proven technology that has long been used by hospitals, large facilities and food industry to successfully kill virus & bacteria by deactivating their DNA and RNA chain beyond recovery. GUARD PRO is an advanced and compact personification to make the technology reach masses as it’s the need of the hour. Everyone is struggling to find and adopt user friendly and cost-effective solutions to ensure theirs and their loved one’s health & safety in this troubling new normal created by Covid” says Vishal Jajoo, one of the founders of PATHER.

One of the most notable features of GUARD-PRO is its extremely safe for human beings :

  • The unit starts only when its door is closed. There is a timer and on/off door to indicate progress of the sanitization cycle.
  • The whole disinfection cycle ensures there is no exposure to UVC to human beings
  • The user can not interrupt and open the door in the middle of the cycle
  • The inbuilt predictive maintainance automation function also indicates the right time to change the UVC lamp
  • There are sensors that keep a close watch on the UVC transmission and if there is a fault, the user gets intimated by an indicator
  • Enclosed in strong durable casing made of mild steel, the system is specifically designed to withstand long term use.
  • The gadget comes equipped with ozone-free UVC amalgam lamps with highly reflective interior making the UVC light penetrate every inch of the object being sanitized. The ergonomic design ensure it gets easily placed as just another electrical appliance in the house and the presence of two shelves ensure enough space for the articles to be placed inside. Due to the high uniformity of the irradiation, the objects can be positioned in any order.

Along with household application, the solution finds immense utility for the healthcare sector too. “GUARD-PRO plays a pivotal role in reducing surface to human infection in such settings by decontaminating and sterilizing PPE for reuse by healthcare teams. Since most PPE such as masks, eye wear are in severe shortage, GUARD-PRO could provide a viable option for quick sterilization and reuse of such PPE and lower the pressure on PPE inventory. It can also be used for flash sterilization of medical equipment and parts which are reusable inventory such as intubation tube, etc. to prevent surface to human transmission. PATHER is very keen to deliver these solutions to hospitals as well as schools at a subsidized rate.” says Chaitanya Bulusu, the other founder of PATHER.

Launched in three variants & capacities (20, 35 and 105 litres) and with one-year warranty, the price of GUARD PRO ranges from INR15K to 19K.

An engineer and XLRI management professional with years of experience across machine automation, Chaitanya feels the new normal is here to stay for a longer time and technology startups can play a great role in creating best synergies between innovation & cost- effectiveness ways to help society lead a safer and healthier life.
