Patient died, Patients Relatives attacked Doctors in the medical emergency of Hindu Rao Hospital

At Hindu Rao hospital, Delhi on 29/6/19 at around 11:30 pm, stage 5 CKD patient brought to medical emergency (Non-compliant to treatment as told by attendants) who couldn’t be saved despite all efforts, died within a 20-30 mins after reporting to the hospital, she was recommended thrice weekly dialysis which she didn’t go for herself as told by attendants of patient and then despite best efforts the patient couldn’t survive.

As per the statement issued by RDA- Resident Doctors Association, NDMC Medical College & Hindu Rao Hospital, Delhi, Vice President Dr Piyush Singh  said : “At midnight on 29-06-2019, patient aged45, female known case of chronic kidney disease stage-5 on maintenance Hemodialysis thrice weekly brought to medical emergency in gasping state. Patient has skipped dialysis past whole week as told by brought by Patient was admitted immediately, and treatment started consciously. Inspite best medical efforts patient collapsed and declared dead on 30-06-2019 AT 1:06 AM.”

Patient Medical Details :

Chronic kidney disease with hypertension stage-5 with severe anemia with hepatitis C virus positive. Hemoglobin – 6.9. TLC 19000. Blood was 96 mg/100 ml and creatinine 8.5 mg/100ml and sodium 150 mmol/L, potassium 6.9 mmol/L, calcium 1.15 mmol/L.

Dr Manish Jain, Joint Secretary, RDA, Hindu Rao Hospital said “As soon as patient was declared dead, a mob appeared in medical emergency and started abusing and brutally attacked doctors on duty and female staff on duty due to which doctor received life threatening injuries. It is regular incident faced by doctors on duty every other day.”

“We demand addition of section 504 IPC against the accused including IPC 5063, 1413, 143, 427. We demand strict action against the accused. We demand proper security to be provided in the hospital wards, emergencies, OPD’s and casualty so that further mishap like this never happens in future. We demand more security during night duties that is bouncers which can act safely during incidents like this.”

As the doctors, Senior residents, junior residents, interns including patients are in fear to face such situations. We demand immediate actions and fulfillment of our demand till then we declared closure of OPR’s, emergencies and other services where JR, SRS and intern work on demand of doctors.” as per the the statement issued by the Acting President and Joint Secretary Hindu Rao Hospital.

A FIR was lodged institutionally with FIR No. 105/19/Section186/353/332/34 I.P.C Medical Act ¾.
