New Delhi, January 8, 2020:

Every year the Rotary identifies the most influential advocates in patient safety and honours them Humanity Hero Awards 2020. This award is to recognize unsung heroes who have made significant progress in Health, Literacy, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Economic and Community Development so that goal of better India can be achieved. Rotary, the worldwide service organization started in India, in the city of Kolkata on 1st January, 1920. This year Rotary celebrates its 100 years of service in India.

The Rotary India Centennial Summit 2020 will mark the celebration of a century of service to the less fortunate in India. Hosted by the ‘City of Joy’ Kolkata, the centennial summit will be organized from 14th to 16th February, 2020 at the state-of-the-art Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata. The summit will showcase the work of Rotary in India. As a part of the Centennial celebration, Rotary is organizing online ‘Rotary India Humanity Hero Awards’ under the four categories – Economic DevelopmentHealthLiteracy and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. The event will be held in conjunction with Rotary’s centennial celebration.

Rotary India Humanity Hero Awards seek to felicitate 4 unsung heroes from India on the aforementioned four categories. These are the people who swam against the tide to bring change in the lives of people by providing love, care, help and support, at times with meagre budget but always with great passion and a will to serve others.

6 individual or organizations will be awarded at the rotary India Centinnel event in Kolkata between the 14th and 16th of February. Each awardee will be given a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakh amidst 5,000 delegates across 40 countries including top leadership of the Rotary world and eminent speakers from the country during the Rotary India Centennial Summit at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in KolkataA eminent jury drawn from diverse and illustrious backgrounds will shortlist candidates from each category who will be then put up for online voting.
