New Delhi: May 14, 2021:

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the make-shift COVID-19 treatment facility situated at Ram Lila ground and annexed to the LNJP Hospital on Friday. He thanked the doctors, engineers, and workers who worked round the clock on a war footing and constructed the 500 ICU beds in just 15 days.

He said that 250 ICU beds will start on May 15, and 250 ICU beds will start in the next two days. Health Minister Satyendar Jain also accompanied CM Arvind Kejriwal to oversee the preparations at the new facility.

Addressing the media following the visit, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “250 ICU beds, linked to LNJP Hospital, are starting from today and another 250 beds will become operational in 1-2 days. A total of 500 ICU beds are starting here. This facility has been prepared in just 15 days.

You might remember that I visited this space 15 days back. Our doctors, paramedic staff, engineers and workers worked day and night on war-footing and mission mode to construct this 500 ICU beds facility.

I visited the GTB Hospital day before yesterday, where another 500 ICU beds have been set up. This makes it a total of 1000 ICU beds added to the bed count in Delhi. 200 ICU beds are being prepared at the Radha Soami COVID facility in Chhatarpur, which means that a total of 1200 ICU beds will be added in Delhi in the next 1-2 days.”

“The situation of Corona in Delhi is improving, because of which lesser beds are getting occupied in the hospitals. However, ICU beds are still full. This means that the system still has serious patients, and so we need more ICU beds. I am sure that these 1200 ICU beds will provide relief to the people of Delhi,” said the CM.

He added. “I want to request everyone, this is not the time to do politics. We are losing lives due to COVID, people are sad and in pain, because they are losing their loved ones. Delhi was facing a shortage of oxygen, and we thank the Hon’ble SC, Delhi HC, and the Central government for providing oxygen to Delhi. Now we have to collectively work to organize the availability of vaccines for Delhi so that all the people are vaccinated in Delhi.”

CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “I salute our docs, engineers, and workers who worked round the clock on a war footing and constructed these 500 ICU beds in just 15 days at Ramlila maidan opp LNJP hospital. 250 ICU beds start tomorrow and 250 in next two days.”
