Arvind Kejriwal to look after COVID-19 Compensation of Delhi Government employees

Delhi Cabinet constitutes a dedicated ‘Group of Ministers’ to handle COVID-19 compensation cases of all Delhi Government employees including doctors, nurses, healthcare & frontline workers

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will look after COVID-19 compensation of Delhi government employees himself. The Delhi Cabinet today amended the procedure of dispensing compensation to employees upon the directions of the Chief Minister. The Cabinet has also approved the formation of a dedicated ‘Group of Ministers’ who will handle COVID-19 compensation cases of all Delhi Government employees including doctors, nurses, paramedics, healthcare & frontline workers among others.

The CM had earlier announced a Samman Rashi of Rs 1 crore for employees who martyred on COVID duty. The Group of Ministers will be headed by Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and consist of Health Minister Satyendar Jain and Revenue Minister Kailash Gahlot. The Dy CM led group of ministers will individually examine every case and send its recommendations to CM Arvind Kejriwal as the final authority.

On Monday, a meeting of the Delhi Cabinet was convened under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Cabinet took up the matter of compensation to the families of government employees who were martyred while on COVID-duty. Chief Minister  Arvind Kejriwal argued that as a responsible and sensitive government, the entire Delhi Government must look after the family of every single employee on COVID duty like their own and stand with them in the need of the hour.

Dy CM Manish Sisodia to head Group of Ministers formed to examine all cases

Upon this, the Cabinet passed a proposal to form a dedicated ‘Group of Ministers’ headed by Deputy CM Manish Sisodia to personally examine the files of all such cases. Health Minister Satyendar Jain and Revenue Minister Kailash Gahlot will be members of this group. The group of ministers, after examining all the cases individually, will send their recommendation to the Chief Minister. The CM from here on will take charge of dispensing compensation and act as the final authority in case of discrepancies.

Families of COVID warriors will receive compensation in record time

This move will greatly benefit the grieving families of all COVID warriors by expediting the compensation procedure. The compensation will be dispensed in record time.

The CM had earlier announced that any person including Doctors, Nurses, Paramedical Staff, Security/Sanitation staff or any other Government Officer/Official, including Police Officer/Official, whether temporary or permanent employee or contractual in Government or Private Sector, deployed for COVID-19 duties by Government of Delhi, expires by contracting the disease during discharge of their duty, their family shall be paid an ex gratia amount of Rupees One Crore, posthumously.
