"Create an enabling environment for people to avail themselves of health services

Chandigarh, May 5,  2017 : Dr. Hanif Queireshi, Chairman, CEO, Waqf Board, Haryana, has stressed the need for creating an enabling environment for people to avail  themselves of health services at various facilities in Haryana, and asked religious and opinion leaders to act as torch-bearers for improving immunization coverage.

Speaking at the meeting for second round of phase-4 Mission Indradhanush (MI) at the mini-secretariat in Nuh today, Dr Queireshi, said, “We are living in democratic country. It is freedom of choice for us to adopt any behavior. One must be aware about the health-seeking behavior. In our society health and education are two antidotes we must focus on. We must create an enabling environment for people to avail themselves of health services at various facilities”.

Mission Indradhanush is being observed throughout the country for immunization of children under two years. Religious and opinion leaders can act as the torch-bearers for improving immunization coverage, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Amneet P. Kumar, Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), Haryana, said, the meeting would plan strategically for maximum coverage during Mission Indradhanush to be held from May 15 to 22, 2017.

“We all have to collectively fight out with the rumours by sensitizing the people about the importance of immunization. The members of civil society are requested to address the issue of immunization of every child in their locality to save these children from deadly diseases”, she added

Mr. Mani Ram Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Nuh, said, “Hundred per cent staff (regular/contractual) should be deployed for mentoring, supervision and monitoring for the completion of Micro Plan, head count and due list for MI. The staff on duty should cross-verify the same. If any gap is observed, it should be brought in the notice of the DIO and Civil Surgeon, immediately for the course correction “.

Presided over by Ms Amneet P. Kumar, the meeting was attended by Mr. Mani Ram Sharma, DC, Civil Surgeons of Mewat and Palwal, District Immunization officers, Deputy Civil Surgeons, State Programme officers, NHM, District officers of line department. Local religious leaders, Imams of main mosques, opinion leaders, local Panchayati Raj members were also present.
