In view of the increasing cases of Corona in Delhi, the Delhi Government has geared up to deal with it. COVID-19 cases have witnessed a surge in Delhi in the last two days. But the Kejriwal Government is fully prepared to deal with the Coronavirus. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said, The Delhi Government is closely monitoring the situation and the government does not want to take any risk. We have completely overhauled our health infrastructure. Along with this, all hospitals have been advised to remain alert amidst increasing cases of Corona in Delhi. To prevent the spread of Corona, the Delhi Government is doing contact tracing of Corona patients. At the same time, RTPCR testing will also be increased if needed. To prevent the spread of Corona, the Delhi Government is working on the principle of test, trace and treat.
Addressing the situation, CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “We are keeping a close eye on rising cases of Corona. Hospital admissions are not increasing, so there is no need to panic. Nothing to worry about as of now.”
Health Minister Satyendar Jain appealed to the people to get vaccinated at the earliest and said, “Prevention is better than cure. All those who have not yet taken the vaccine or have taken only the first dose, should be taken to their nearest health facility as soon as possible for complete vaccination.”
He added, “Wearing a mask while leaving the house can prevent most cases. Even though cases of corona have increased in Delhi, the number of patients admitted to hospitals is still normal. Apart from this, the XE variant has not been included in the list of ‘Variants of Concern’ by the World Health Organization. So there is no need to panic. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) will meet on April 20 to discuss the rise in Corona cases and measures to contain the spread of the epidemic. In this future strategies will be discussed.”
Delhi Government is preparing 65 thousand beds
The Delhi government, ready to fight the coronavirus pandemic, has instructed officials to keep an eye on the new form of the coronavirus and increase vigilance. On the orders of the Chief Minister, about 37 thousand Covid beds and 10,594 COVID ICU beds have been prepared in the state. If the infection spreads, the government has planned to increase 100 oxygen beds in every ward of Delhi within two weeks. In such a situation, the Delhi government plans to prepare 65,000 beds, so that no person has to face shortage of beds in an emergency situation.
Home Isolation System to be implemented if Cases Witness a Significant Surge
During the previous waves of the corona pandemic, the home isolation system proved to be extremely beneficial for patients. In view of this, if the cases increase again, the home isolation system will be implemented. At the same time, patients with mild corona symptoms will get better treatment at home. CDV teams, along with ANM, ASHA, paramedical workers, will visit the homes of corona infected patients and inform them about being in home isolation and taking necessary precautions. During this, the teams will assess the patient’s health and will provide home isolation kits with oximeters. Tele-caller teams will call in the morning and evening to get health related information of the patient. If the patient’s condition is critical, they will be immediately admitted to the hospital.
Delhi Government has increased oxygen capacity & infrastructure
Delhi’s oxygen capacity has been greatly increased by the Kejriwal government. At present, the Delhi government has a capacity of 1363.73 MT of oxygen, including Liquid Medical Oxygen Storage (LMO), Liquid Medical Oxygen Buffer, and PSA Plant.At the same time, the medical institution has the capacity of oxygen cylinders of up to 217 metric tonnes. Apart from this, 6,000 D type cylinders have been kept in reserve for use in an emergency. Earlier, the oxygen refilling capacity in Delhi was limited to 1,500 cylinders a day, but now the 2 cryogenic plants with a capacity of 12.5 MT will be able to fill an additional 1,400 jumbo cylinders every day.
Oxygen tanks are now equipped with modernistic telemetry devices
Telemetry devices have been installed in all the big and small oxygen tanks on the orders of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. This will allow real-time monitoring of oxygen levels and will help in supplying oxygen as per the requirements in case of an emergency. Its live monitoring will be done from the war room, so that oxygen can be arranged in time.
During the second wave of corona, it became difficult to tell which hospital was given oxygen first and which hospital needed it the most. Keeping this in mind, the Delhi government has now reviewed the supply of oxygen. Since then, telemetry devices have been installed in liquid medical oxygen tanks in all private and government hospitals in Delhi.
Delhi Government will ensure a sufficient supply of medicines across Delhi
Apart from the facility of COVID beds, the Delhi government is also emphasizing the availability of medicines in sufficient quantities, to ensure that there is no shortage of medicines in any situation. On the instructions of CM Arvind Kejriwal, buffer stock of various useful medicines has been ensured in the treatment of patients. In this connection, Health Minister Satyendar Jain also took stock of the stock and directed all the officers to keep a close watch on the availability of essential medicines.
Precautionary dose of vaccine to be made available soon
Precaution doses will soon be provided free of cost to people in government hospitals by the Delhi government. Precaution doses of the same vaccine will be given to the people who have revived the first and second doses of the vaccine and who have completed nine months of taking their second dose.
Specialist doctors will also treat Covid patients if needed
The Delhi Government is emphasizing on increasing manpower for covid management, so that if the rate of infection accelerates, there is no shortage of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff. For this, along with specialist doctors, medical students, nurses and paramedical staff have been given special training in covid management. They have been given training in oxygen therapy, covid management, pediatric ward covid management etc. The Chief Minister has also directed the Delhi Government hospitals to increase the sanctioned strength of doctors, nurses and paramedics as per the requirement. At the same time, a Covid helpline number – 1031 has been issued to help the corona infected during any problem. This helpline is available 24 hours a day to assist the people.
