The Kejriwal government will organize a digital round table conference aimed at reducing the level of air pollution in Delhi. The theme of the conference will be “Measures to be taken to reduce air pollution in Delhi before winter 2021”. Delhi Environment Minister Shri Gopal Rai said that under the leadership of CM Arvind Kejriwal, the government has set a target of reducing Delhi’s pollution level by one-third in the next five years. He said that based on the suggestions received from experts and organizations, the Delhi government will formulate a long-term action plan to tackle pollution.
Environment Minister Gopal Rai said, “The Delhi government is continuously working to reduce air pollution. The work that our government has done in the last 6 years to fix the environment and improve the environmental condition, has made a positive beginning in reducing Delhi’s pollution, but it is not enough. Therefore, to fix the air quality of Delhi and to solve the crisis the government has set a target to significantly reduce the pollution level in the next five years. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has given a guarantee to the people of Delhi that together we will reduce Delhi’s pollution level by a third in the next five years.
Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that the government is continuously working to reduce air pollution. The work that our government has done in the past 6 years to improve the environmental condition, has made a positive beginning in reducing Delhi’s pollution, but it is not enough. Therefore, to fix the air quality of Delhi and to solve the crisis and danger on the laws of the people of Delhi, the government has set a target to significantly reduce the pollution levels in the next five years. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has guaranted to the people of Delhi that together we will reduce Delhi’s pollution level by a third in the next five years.
This round table conference is being organized by the Department of Environment, in which experts working in the field of environment, especially with regard to air pollution, have been called. Along with this, social organizations and NGOs doing different work in the field of environment are also participating in it.
Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that the main people participating in this are Dr. Mukesh Sharma from IIT Kanpur, Dr. Sagnik Dey of IIT Delhi, Sumit Sharma of TERI, Santosh Harish of Center for Policy Research, Air Pollution Action Group Karthik Ganesan, representative of Vijay Chadha, Council of Energy Environmental and Water Representatives from CSE’s Anumita Roy, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology Professor Gufran Baig, Siddharth Virmani of the Energy Policy Institute of the University of Chicago, will speak.
Rai said that on the basis of suggestions received from experts and organizations, the government will formulate a long-term action plan in order to tackle pollution in Delhi.
