World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the Novel Corona virus, COVID-19 as Pandemic. Till now it has affected 213 countries/areas/territories, infected 46,18,821 people and caused 3,11,847 deaths. Most severely affected countries are the U.S.A, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, U.K. Turkey, Iran, China etc. Till date in India, it has infected 1,01,139 people including 3163 deaths.
Major Activities undertaken by the State of Haryana to control the spread of COVID-19 :
- Special campaign has been launched in Haryana for random COVID sampling of vegetable vendors, Health workers, Police personnel, Media personnel, Pharmacists, Depot Holders, Sanitation workers etc.
- Special campaign for screening the Urban slums in districts namely Faridabad, Gurugram, Sonipat etc. and intensive sampling of COVID also being done in these
- Control Room –cum- Helpline of 30 lines has been made operational at Panchkula. Services of tele- medicines are being provided through helpline. The helpline nos. are 8558893911, 1075 and 108 (Ambulance Services) available for 24 X
- The State Government notified ‘The Haryana Government Epidemic, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020’ under the Epidemic Disease Act 1897 on 11th March
- MHA GoI has issued orders vide no.: 40-3/2020-DM-I(A) dated: 24.03.2020, order No. 40.3/2020-DM-I(A) dated 14th April, 2020 and order no. 40-3/2020-DM-I(A) dated 01.05.2020 to take lockdown measures to prevent the spread of COVID 19 in the
- Nine labs, one each at PGIMS, Rohtak (capacity 600 sample per day) and BPS Khanpur Kalan (400 sample per day), ESIC Medical College Faridabad (300 sample per day), Kalpna Chawla Medical College Karnal (250 sample per day), NRCE Hisar (160 sample per day), PGIMER, Chandigarh (50 sample per day), CSIR, Mohali (200 sample per day), Civil Hospital, Panchkula (80 sample per day) and SHKMGMC, Nalhar (80 samples per day) are for doing test for COVID-19 and five private labs at Gurugram (SRL (400 sample per day), CORE Diagnostics (800 sample per day), Dr. Lal Pathlabs (400 sample per day), Modern Diagnostic & Research Centre Lab, Gurugram (300 sample per day), Path Kind Lab, Gurugram (250 sample per day) are doing test for COVID-19.
In order to contain the spread of the virus, Haryana Government has strengthened the surveillance and control measures against the disease.

- All Commissioners of Municipal Corporations, all Executive Officers of Municipal Councils and Secretary of Municipal Committees are authorized to dispose of the dead bodies of COVID and detailed SOP issued regarding dead body
Haryana has 27, 984 bedded quarantine facilities in Dedicated COVID Care Centers and 11,107 Beds are available in Dedicated COVID Hospitals and in Dedicated COVID Health Centers :
- Order issued under Food and Safety Act, 2006 regarding ban on consumption/ sale of Pan Masala, Gutka, Chewing-Bubble gum .

312 regular doctors by Health Department and 206 Ayush Medical Officers by Ayush Department recruited across Haryana state to tackle the crisis of COVID effectively :
- Department of Ayush has distributed immunity boosting medicines to more than 1.5 lac persons (sanitation workers, health workers, police personnel, senior citizens, PRIs ).
