Persons suffering from leprosy will not remain homeless: MoS Madhya Pradesh, Vishvas Sarang

  • Persons suffering from leprosy to be linked with employment through Cooperative Societies
Bhopal, August 9, 2018:

The Minister of State for Cooperative, Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation (Independent Charge) Shri Vishvas Sarang said that persons suffering from leprosy will be linked with employment by forming cooperative societies. Persons suffering from leprosy dwelling in all the 35 leprosy settlements of the state will be provided with pattas. Alternate place will be made available to them for dwelling, where there is no scope of pattas. Person with leprosy will not remain houseless. Shri Sarang mentioned that persons with leprosy are important part of the society. He was addressing the Empowerment Meet-2018 organised by the Sasakawa-India Leprosy Foundation at Hotel Palash today.

Shri Sarang gave instructions to the officers that they should get in touch with the persons suffering from leprosy within the next 10 days and to constitute their cooperative societies. Along with this, also start work to link them with the employment. Besides financial assistance, help them in running cooperative societies. He lauded works being carried out by the Leprosy Foundation.

The Director of Leprosy Foundation Dr. Vinita Shankar apprised about the activities being conducted in the state. Dr. Shalini Saxena imparted information in connection to the Empowerment Meet. The State Coordinator of Leprosy foundation and persons with leprosy handed over the demand letter to Shri Sarang on the occasion.
