New Delhi, February 01, 2022:
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia hit out at the Central Government for presenting a ill-thought budget today.
The CM said that — the public had huge aspirations from the budget due to the pandemic’s woes; people have been left bereft. There’s nothing in this budget for the common man, nothing that will reduce the backbreaking inflation.
While Deputy CM and FInance Minister Sisodia stated, This is the most ridiculous and anti-farmer budget in the history of India; calling it a disappointment too feels like an understatement. Centre did not just reduce allocation for MSP & agriculture but also the number of beneficiaries of MSP and procurement targets.
What the Centre has done to our farmers is nothing less than stealing from the plate of the hungry. 60 lac jobs in 5 years is nothing more than a jumla; what will you do with these jobs when 5.5 crore people roam unemployed in the present. The PLI scheme under which the Centre wants to generate employment has not created one job in 2 years. Centre hellbent on defunding education; reduced education sector’s budget so poor’s children stay uneducated.
Despite seeing the tragedies of COVID, Centre did not increase the budget allocation for the Health Sector; are the lives of the common man a joke? Middle class feeds India’s economy but the BJP’s Central Government has backstabbed it today. Reducing tax slabs could have increased the purchasing power of the already stressed middle class.Barely Rs 325 crores allotted to Delhi from a total of 8.16 lacs crores in central taxes. Not a single penny allotted to MCD while all other civic bodies have been given funds by the Centre.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “The public had huge aspirations from the budget due to the pandemic’s woes. The people have been left bereft. There’s nothing in this budget for the common man, nothing that will reduce the backbreaking inflation.”
Agri-sector employs 60% of our workforce today and the Centre has made a huge budget cut despite being aware of it: Dy CM Manish Sisodia
He further said, “This agonising budget comes when the country is facing unemployment, backbreaking inflation and apathy of the Central Government. To rob our farmers of the MSP they rightfully deserve in no less from stealing from the plates of the hungry.
There used to be a time when the BJP would make big claims of doubling the income of our farmers. They completely failed at this when they came to power. Yet, the Union Finance Minister has reduced the budget allocation for agriculture from 4.25% to 3.8%. They are not just robbing the farmers today but they’ve shown that they don’t want our agriculture sector to prosper by any means.
What does the Central Government even want? Do they want the farmers to stop existing in the face of this Indian society? How can you reduce the budget allocation for our farmers? This sector employs 60% of our workforce today and the Centre has made a huge budget cut despite being aware of it? What kind of a vision is this? How will this create jobs? How will this double agrarian income?”
Centre hellbent on defunding education; reduced education sector’s budget so our children stay uneducated: Dy CM Manish Sisodia
The Deputy CM continued, “The whole country is fighting the pandemic. The pandemic taught the whole world that health infrastructure needed hefty investment to protect lives. But this high-headed government completely blinded itself from the realities of our country.
Learning no lessons from the pandemic, the central government has kept the health allocation as it was last year. Education faced a huge blow because of COVID. The whole country is worried about the state of education today. But, the Central Government in no way talked about the New Education Policy in its budget.
The New Education Policy of which this government made a mountain of a molehill said that the Centre must allocate 6% of its budget to education for this policy to become a reality. But in reality, the Centre is reducing the education budget. They reduced the already abysmal share of education from 2.67% to 2.64%. The budget for skilling was reduced by a staggering 30%. They talk about the merits of the NEP but continue to defund the education sector. There can not be a bigger hypocrite than this regime.”
60 lac jobs in 5 years nothing more than a jumla; what will you do with these jobs when 5.5 crore people roam unemployed in the present: Dy CM Manish Sisodia
He said, “The Centre claims they’ll create 60 lac jobs. This country is facing the peak of its levels of unemployment, the pandemic has made it difficult for the common man to manage their household. I thought they might introduce some new framework but this is merely a jumla and nothing else.
They claim to bank upon the PLI scheme. Production Linked Incentive is a two year old scheme and has not resulted in one new job. When you couldn’t create one job in 2 years how will you create 60 lac jobs in 5 years? Does the Centre think the poor unemployed youth is a joke? The data speaks louder than their lies. Today, 5.5 crore people roam unemployed in India. What a ridiculous vision is this? They want to fool our public by saying they’ll create 60 lac jobs despite continuously failing at it and what will you honestly do by creating 60 lac jobs in 5 years when 5.5 crore roam unemployed in the present?”
Middle class feeds India’s economy but BJP’s Central Government has backstabbed it today: Dy CM Manish Sisodia
He added, “The middle class feeds the whole country’s economy. Every step of the middle class adds on to our country’s taxpool. How long will the middle class continue doing this? The Union Government and their tyranny has drained the middle class of cash today. They have no purchasing power left. Ever since the pandemic hit, the middle class has stopped going to the markets itself.
Today, this country needed some relief in the income tax slabs. This would have helped our middle class regain purchasing power and enter the markets. This would have naturally helped the economy grow. The whole middle class stands helpless because of the agony of this government today.”
Barely Rs 325 crores allotted to Delhi from a of 8.16 lacs crores in central taxes: Dy CM Manish Sisodia
The Deputy CM concluded, “The central government remains indifferent to Delhi as well. On one hand, while the rest of the states get 42% share in central taxes, on the other hand, only Rs 325 crore is being given to the Delhi government for the last 21 years. Giving Delhi only Rs 325 crore out of the budget of 8.16 lakh crores allocated for the share of all states in central taxes shows the negative attitude of the central government towards the people of Delhi.
The central government allocated Rs 69,421 crore in this budget to municipal corporations in various states across India, but the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, where the BJP always bemoans a lack of funds, received none. The BJP-led municipal corporation, on the other hand, has always claimed that it will receive funds directly from the centre. But their promises also lie flat today.”
