“Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman and Rajinder Nagar MLA Raghav Chadha made a surprise visit to the Online Tanker Management System and Grievance Redressal Helpline control room at the Delhi Jal Board’s headquarters today.”
New Delhi, July 14, 2o21:
Shri Chadha asked the officers to be completely hands-on with their work and make sure no citizen is discomforted as the supply of water will only be normalised after the 16,000 cusecs of water that Haryana has released reaches Delhi. He instructed the officers to induce complete efficiency in the system and cross-verify on ground redressal of grievances by randomly calling up complainants. The DJB Vice Chairman asked the officials present at the control room to ensure timely supply of water tankers and undertook a firsthand assessment of the Delhi Jal Board’s tanker management and grievance redressal system. While assessing the system, Shri Raghav Chadha anonymously called up complainants to understand their problems and instructed the officials to plug any possible loopholes in the system.
Shri Chadha took full stock of the system and understood from the control room operators how water tanker demands had increased because Haryana had withheld Delhi’s share of water, causing a water crisis in the city.
He also took note of Delhi Jal Board’s GPS enabled live tanker tracking system. Upon asking, the officials informed the DJB Vice Chairman that post the registration of a complaint, a tanker reaches the complainants’ location in 40 to 45 minutes.
Shri Raghav Chadha said, “It is important to ensure that delivery of water tankers is made to the citizens in minimum time. No calls or messages in this regard should be left unattended. The teams need to cross verify the work being done on ground to make this system seamless. The officers should call the complainants and take proper feedback about the tanker delivery and make sure that the citizens are completely satisfied with the service. If the citizens register any problem with the delivery, we should address it.”
Shri Chadha instructed the officers to not let callous attitude take over them and be empathetic towards the problems being faced during this tough period. He then anonymously called up a complainant as a Delhi Jal Board employee and understood their situation and assured them of prompt service.
The Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman further said, “the water crisis should hopefully be resolved in a few days now that Haryana has released water towards Delhi.”
The Delhi Jal Board had to move to the Supreme Court to seek restoration of Delhi’s water supply, post which Haryana released 16,000 cusecs of water towards the national capital.
