Sixth round of Sero Survey begins in Delhi

New Delhi, September 25, 2021:

Amidst the apprehensions of the third wave in the country, the Delhi Government has commenced the sixth Sero Survey in the National Capital on 24 September. In this regard, Health Minister Satyendar Jain held a press conference on Saturday. He said that the sixth serosurvey has begun in Delhi. A total of 280 wards will be surveyed and 100 samples will be collected from each ward. This serosurvey will take around two weeks to complete, wherein the sample collection will take one week and the results will take another week to come. Satyendar Jain urged the people of Delhi to wear a mask and take proper precautions while getting out of their houses or going to work.

The Delhi Government has begun the sixth serological survey on Friday to find out the percentage of the population that has developed antibodies against COVID-19, either through natural infections or by vaccination, as per the official order. Satyendar Jain said, “The sixth Sero Survey has begun in the National Capital. This will be done in 280 wards of Delhi, including NDMC and Cantonment Board. 100 samples from each ward will be collected. The government aims to collect 28,000 samples randomly from people from all 280 wards of the city in the survey. It is one of the biggest serological surveys and we are hoping for a more accurate and positive report after the survey is over.”

The fifth serosurvey which was conducted this year found that over 56% of Delhi’s population was exposed to viral infection. According to the experts, high seropositivity is expected to be found in this serosurvey. Talking about Corona in Delhi, only 24 cases were reported on September 24, with a positivity rate of 0.03 per cent. Also, no deaths because of COVID were reported in Delhi yesterday.
