Smriti Irani to inaugurate national conference on empowerment in Pharma and Healthcare sectors

Ahmedabad, April 28, 2022:

The Hon. Minister for Women & Child Development, Mrs Smriti Irani, will inaugurate a national conference on “Soaring Heights of Empowerment in Pharma & Healthcare Industry” on Sunday, 1st May with this a knowledge report on “Future impact on Pharma & Healthcare with Diversity & Inclusivity: Vision 2030”will also be launched on the ocassion. To be held in Ahmedabad, the event will focus on Diversity & Inclusivity in Healthcare & Pharma, further building upon the huge strides & progress made during the Pandemic. By raising the concerns to bring Women into the mainstream in these core sectors, the conference aims to generate dialogue, discussion and drive outcomes towards the goal of more women in these sectors.

Speaking on the launch of the Conference, Ms Purvi Pandya, Conference Convenor, said, “It is heartening to kick off this initiative, to drive dialogue and action – the conference through its theme aims to contribute to the national agenda of celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav an initiative of the Government of India. The conference aims to become instrumental in fuelling the entrepreneurial spirit of the citizens. Take-aways from this conference will create an environment which would propel their manufacturing capabilities and innovations making them Atmanirbhar and contributing to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Reinforcing these sentiments, Mr Vinod sharma, Founder – Prime Foundation, said, Gujarat’s pharmaceutical industry has evolved into an innovation-driven, knowledge-focused industry. With inclusion of Diversity & inclusivity in the objective of the conference, the entrepreneurial spirit of women in Pharma & Healthcare sector would be boosted and will help in achieving the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by providing equal opportunities without being gender bias.”

Speaking about the conference Dr. Viranchi Shah – National President Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association Said “The businessmen & women from Gujarat have agility and business acumen that thrive their business. Gujarat is the Pharma Hub of the country. During pandemic the Pharma & Healthcare Industries from Gujarat have contributed a lot in ensuring availability of various emergency use medicines and vaccines to fight this pandemic. A lot more can done to augment the contributions of women in this sector. The deliberations and outcome from this conference will help the stakeholders to have a look on how to further strengthen diversity and inclusivity in this industry.”
