State Government will strengthen health institutions: CM

 

Shimla, May 26, 2018 : Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that State Government would ensure better Health services to the people of State at their doorsteps. He was speaking on the occasion of Cultural Night and Annual Prize Distribution function of CSA-2017-18 of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) held here today.

Shri Jai Ram Thakur congratulated the members of CSA, Staff and the Students for giving a scintillating performance. He said that this was despite the students getting little time for preparation due to their busy schedule. He said that medical profession was one of the most noble professions which requires highest level of commitment and dedication. He said that State Government was committed to strengthen the existing health institutions in the State. He said that for this adequate infrastructure and staff would be provided. He said that IGMC was one of the premier institutions of the State and credit goes to the staff, students and other para-medics working in the institute.

The Chief Minister said that State Government would establish a medical university in the state to effectively manage the medical colleges of the State. He said that medical college at Hamirpur would be opened soon to provide qualified doctors to the State. He said that the Government would also strengthen the dental unit in the college. He said that the Union Government has sanctioned an AIIMS for the State which would be opened at Kothipura in Bilaspur district soon.

Chief Minister formally performed the ceremony of naming the auditorium of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) as ‘Atal Sabhagar’. He also launched the new website of IGMC on the occasion. He also released the souvenir brought out on the occasion. He also released publicity literature on Hepatitis B.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Vipin Singh Parmar said that the present tenure of the State Government has witnessed rapid strides in health sector. He said that State was way ahead in various health indicators as compared to other States and national average. He said that the present Government does not believe in mere tall claims, but believes in action. He said that the health institutions in the State were being strengthened with required equipment and staff. He said that the previous government made announcements in fag end of the tenure with an eye on polls. He said that 200 posts of doctors were being filled through the State Public Service Commission. He said that the present Government filled up posts of 262 doctors soon after assuming office. He said that posts of para-medical staff would be filled up soon to strengthen health institutions in the State.

Principal of IGMC Dr. Ravi Sharma welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion. He also detailed various activities of the college.

General Secretary of the CSA IGMC Navneet Sharma read out the Annual Report. He thanked the Chief Minister for increasing the stipend of interns from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15000. He also detailed various demands of the students.

President CSA IGMC Shubham Raghuvanshi also welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed various activities of the Association.

Wife of the Chief Minister Dr. Sadhna Thakur, Additional Chief Secretary Health Shri B.K. Aggarwal, Director Medical Education Dr. Ashok Sharma, Senior Medical Superintendent Dr. Janak Raj, Principal Government Dental College Dr. R.P. Luthra were present on the occasion among others.
