Bhopal, August 01, 2018 : The ‘Swachcha Pradesh-Swastha Pradesh’ campaign will be conducted in urban areas of the state from August 2 to September 15, 2018. Efficacious action will be ensured on all the components of sanitation in cities during the campaign. Informing about this, the Minister for Urban Development and Housing Smt. Maya Singh said that third party assessment will also be conducted by the Quality Council of India between September 01 and 15 to ascertain status of sanitation in urban areas. She further informed that Municipal Corporation, Municipality and City Council (Nagar Parishad) will be honoured with awards for their best performance in the campaign by the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a separate programme.
According to the directives issued by the Minister Smt. Singh to all the Municipal Corporations, Municipalities and City Councils, it is mentioned that the campaign is being launched with the motto for expansion of sanitation facilities in each ward and settlement of city, effective implementation and supervision of garbage collection process from hundred percent houses from each lane and colony, for conducting special campaign at places to end trend of open defecation, generating awareness for maintaining sanitation at personal and public toilets, for ensuring toilets’ cleanliness in every office, school, bus stand, railway station and other places, to ensure implementation of permanent system for collecting hundred percent wet and dry garbage from every office and private institutions, to ensure hundred percent collection process of wet and dry garbage in city, to send wet garbage for composting and dry garbage for recycling, to connect citizens directly with the campaign and to undertake the documentation the same at the same time for star rating.
Minister Smt. Singh has informed that the ‘Swachcha Pradesh- Swastha Pradesh’ campaign will be held regularly daily in all the cities from August 2 to September 15, 2018 and ward wise activities will be conducted by forming separate teams. Sanitation activities will be conducted in the supervision of Nodal Officer/Employee to be appointed in each ward. Mayor and President of corporations will lead the campaign on site and corporators besides local citizens will take part in the campaign in wards. The campaign will be conducted every day in 3 phases. Under the first phase, labour oriented works will be undertaken at ward level under the morning activities by linking common man and public representatives to conduct the campaign and activities voluntarily. Moreover, under the 2nd phase, a publicity of the sanitation campaign will be conducted through video on subjects like sanitation awareness and change in mentality, lectures, pamphlets, street plays etc. by organizing meetings and camps. After obtaining feedback on daily activities, conventional system will be implemented at ward level. Moreover, publicity will be conducted to generate awareness in connection to stop diseases like dengue, malaria and typhoid caused by open defecation, disposal of garbage and due to spitting at any place. During the 3rd phase, information about activities conducted during the day is required to be sent in the prescribed format to the Directorate between 6.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m.
