The Delhi Government has since the onset of COVID-19, supported and motivated its healthcare workers who are laying their life on the line to save the residents of Delhi and of the neighbouring states who have crossed borders with deep faith in Delhi’s healthcare services.
On Friday evening, the Delhi Vidhan Sabha organised its 6th felicitation ceremony for the healthcare workers of Government hospitals: Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (ILBS), Vasant Kunj; Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital in Ashok Vihar; Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri and Burari Hospital in North West Delhi. The healthcare workers have been conferred with the title of ‘Corona Warriors’ owing to their extraordinary and selfless service in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. The Health Minister expressed his utmost gratitude to the ‘Corona Warriors’ for their dedicated service which saved precious lives, saying that their sacrifice cannot be forgotten and shall be written in the pages of history in letters of gold.
He further said, “We are doing our best and learning from our experiences to prevent the third wave but following COVID appropriate behavior is very important, thus people must not become negligent.”
Satyendar Jain also used the platform to reiterate that the Kejriwal Government’s preparations ahead of the impending third wave are thorough. The government has its ear to the ground and is not taking any chances. “The Kejriwal Government is preparing on all fronts for the third wave, 37,000 COVID-19 dedicated beds are being laid out, and these include 12,000 ICUs. Along with this, 47 PSA oxygen plant along with 5 LMO storage tanks have already been set up in the city with many more to come up, moreover our vision is to move a step forward by making ICU facilities so readily available in the capital that even a normal oxygen bed can be converted into an ICU one instantly without having to shift the patients,” he said.
The Health Minister concluded with a much-needed warning. “People must remain vigilant to stop another outbreak, and they should not panic in case they get infected or have symptoms. Being motivated and calm boosts the recovery process”
Satyendar Jain was accompanied by Delhi Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ram Niwas Goel and MLA of Mehrauli Naresh Yadav at the event, which was attended by distinguished guests and several healthcare workers. Doctors present at the event hailed the Kejriwal Government for its support and rapid response, in catering to hospitals with essential supplies of oxygen, medicines and other required medical equipment during the second wave. They also praised the unparalleled efforts being made by the Health Department for establishing PSA oxygen plants, ICUs, Ventilators and other Covid-19 related health facilities in record time.
Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ram Niwas Goel also praised the senior doctors and healthcare workers. “The name ‘Frontline warriors’ given to doctors and healthcare workers is absolutely correct as just like the army on the border, they didn’t think about their lives but worked selflessly towards rescuing precious lives from the clutches of the deadly Coronavirus”. He further stated that the vidhan sabha will continue to organise such felicitation programmes for the ‘Corona Warriors’ of the city who are the pride and strength of Delhi.
