Trauma Care facilities in Government Hospitals

Under the Programme namely, Capacity Building for developing Trauma Care Facilities in Government Hospitals on National Highways, during 11th and 12th Five Year Plans (FYP), a total of 116 and 85 trauma care facilities (TCFs) respectively were identified and Central assistance of Rs. 461.8837 crores and Rs. 269.1296 crores respectively was released.

During the 10th Five Year Plan (FYP), under a pilot scheme on strengthening emergency services in Government Hospital, financial assistance of Rs 1.5 crore was provided to Bikram Referral Center, Patna. The State Government of Bihar has informed that six bedded Trauma Centre at Bikram, Patna has already been constructed in 2004.

During the 11th FYP, Government of Bihar submitted 9 proposals for establishing TCFs at Civil Hospital, Kishanganj;District Hospital, Purnia;Civil Hospital, Madhepura; Darbhanga Medical College Hospital, Dharbhanga; S.K. Medical College Hospital, Muzaffarpur; Civil Hospital, Gopalgang; Civil Hospital, Jhanjharpur;Sadar Hospital, Sasaram, Rohtas; and AN Magadh Medical College Hospital, Gaya. All these proposals have been approved and funds to the extent of Rs. 6.45 crore have been released to the State Government as first instalment for the approved TCFs. Construction of the approved TCFs is at different stages.

The Minister of State (Health and Family Welfare), Sh Ashwini Kumar Choubey stated this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, here today.
