BLK-Max Hospital Collaborates with the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, India to Discuss the Advanced Endoscopic Practices

BLK-Max Super Specialty Hospital organised a two-day event on 1st and 2nd April in collaboration with the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, India (SGEI) to discuss the advancement in endoscopic practices. The two-day long event included lectures, debates, and live demonstrations of the procedures focusing on technical know-how, with some of the top clinicians across the country.

Led by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Chairman, Pan Max & HOD, Institute for Digestive & Liver Diseases, BLK-Max Super Specialty Hospital, the focus of the event was “Luminal strictures’ and to highlight the literature available to treat various disorders causing narrowing of the lumen of esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine.

Day one covered topics related to the narrowing of the lumen esophagus stricture, achalasia cardia, and colon along with presentations on live case studies and a compelling lecture on the Evolution in the management of Luminal strictures by various top doctors.  Day two covered topics related to the small bowel and gastric outlet obstruction. The day concluded with another lecture on ‘Antifibrotic therapies for stricture – is there a future’.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Chairman-Pan Max & HOD – Institute for Digestive & Liver Diseases, BLK- Max Super Specialty, said “Through this collaboration, we aim to educate and innovate ways to advancing patient care by identifying key areas of improvement while finding new, safer, and more cost-effective ways to treat patients. The program is designed with the purpose of updating the latest research and technical nuances that will enable us to provide the best care possible.”

This single-themed conference on “Luminal Strictures’ will help the medical students being initiated into treating these patients, gastroenterologists already involved in treating such patients, and academicians to identify areas of a future interest that need to be explored. It will also stimulate the industry to innovate and find new instruments to make these procedures safe and cost-effective for patients.
